Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

d'Arenberg produce some fantastic wines from a great area. This one was a bit slow to open up but after some fresh air it was bloody good

Through a member of the Penfolds cellar door club (ie. me :D). As you're also in BNE, perhaps we could arrange something :D ;).

I might need to see $$ upfront though - I don't drink Whites so it's safe from me stealing to drink. Can have it delivered to my work (Fortitude Valley) and we arrange onward delivery to you - but can see if they do "gift cases" (ie. shipped direct to you).

QF WP I didn't see an answer to my post or a PM so I assume it's a little difficult to arrange an order for the Yattana for someone else. Thanks for the original suggestion and offer anyway. And, I've decided to give some money to Vanuatu...

Sorry, completely slipped my mind - a rather large upheaval at work has been playing on my mind. I'll ring tomorrow Penfolds Cellar Door Club in the next few days (tomorrow out seeing 2 of my top 3 clients, so will be distracted with work  ).

Personally I liked the '13 Lily's over the Bella's. The Ares was awesome, but no way I could justify spending $165, or even the discounted $145.

As a side note, Mark advised us that they had just pulled their range from Dan's.

Yeah, can buy a few really good bottles for the price of the Ares.

Interesting Two Hands have given Dans the flick. This might explain why I found some back vintages mixed randomly thru the reds at Noosaville just before Xmas. And I thought it was a bit like an Easter egg hunt! Their computer confirmed I had cleaned them out. Might be worth enquiring at your local store if they have any others.

So the 2013s you tasted weren't oak dominant?

Definitely. But $100 was a bargain ;)

Interesting, but it sounded like Dan's weren't really adding value to the Two Hands brand. Which I can understand.

I'm not sure I can answer that

QF WP Thanks for the offer but let us let this one go to Vanuatu. I'll consider the next special offer you come up with.

Besides, we'd have to use intermediaries to preserve our DYKWIA status.:)

Here's the wine list from QF9

The bubbles on both sectors was Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 2004.
I enjoyed that and a glass or two of the PHI Chardonnay on the first sector and switched to RWT for DXB-LHR.
Galleries F has Taittinger Rosé and Prelude. View attachment 44193 CCR update coming up soon.

Hi Princess - If you get a chance, and took one, can you post a pic of the food menu from QF 9. Cheers.

JohnM, throw me your scraps.......Paringa Estate 2008!

Slightly confusing nomenclature at Paringa Estate.

The 'Estate' series wines are the mid-level range (the 'Peninsula' series is the first tier) and 'The Paringa' single-vineyard wines (as in my pic) are the top-tier. Pretty awesome stuff.

Apologies JohnM:oops:. My bad! On more compos reinspection of your post it indeed was The Paringa, not the Estate:eek:

I suspect it would go a few more years and some?

Most definitely. My impression was that it was in mid-transition from the more fruit-driven to the texture/elegance-driven stages. In some ways, it may have been better to open it about three years ago to get the former; in about three years into the future (and likely a lot more if well-stored) to optimise the latter.

BTW, the 'Paringa' Shiraz is also excellent.

The Paringa SV series are fab. Have a few tucked away. Glorious.

Had a Flametree shiraz between MEL and PER tonight - nice

I had some on my last PER trip - very nice.

Despite getting the really coughpy old aircraft, the crew and service were [surprisingly] excellent.
