Im 320sc's short of qualifying for gold. Im based in Sydney.

I have until 30 June to qualify. Between then and now I have:

PE Sydney to Tokyo or Nagoya (Best result = 140sc?)
Economy Sydney to Melb (Best result = 40sc?)
Economy Sydney to Perth (or Adelaide but from what I can see Perth is a better option?) (Best result = 80sc?

Can anyone see an option to make these flights work a bit harder for me?

Looks like if I go

Syd => Adelaide => Perth return that will give me 140sc instead of 80sc.

Any ideas on the Tokyo/Nagoya route?

Additional Info - I missed out on the double SC offer =(

Thanks,

You can get more flying to Tokyo by using Jetstar and take the SYD-CNS-Japan option, in business and paying the extra to earn points. Make sure you pick the international jetstar flight for SYD-CNS. The only question is the cost compared to PE on QF.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Do you have points? A JASA from the east coast might be more suitable.

agreed - if you have enough points, take a JASA from SYD - PER via ADL/MEL will net you ~10000 points back and 120 (MEL) / 140 (ADL) SCs.

Sorry guys, new to this - JASA?

Ive had a search and ready it is any seat rewards - is J the class (if so what class?) or J for jetstar?

No points for these flights. I should be able to qualify without them?

J for Business
ASA for Anyseat award. Log into your FF account and go to award booking and select any seat award.

You can book ASAs at or close to Classic award points, and earn status.

Ok here is an example of what I'd recommend for going to Japan.

Roughly $1250 for a one way. This is about the same price as shown if booking with Qantas for the same date. Note that I have selected the flight options that include JQ15 and JQ25. On the returned you need to select something like JQ16 and 26. Why? because these flights are JQ international flights and they have business class. Now the advantage is that these flight earn business class Status. In summary SYD-CNS-NRT-OOL-SYD for about $2500 will earn 360 SC. No double SC as they are not QF flight numbers. But still it should get what you need.

This compares to 140SC in PE SYD-NRT.

Sorry but I'm missing something here. Why would you spend so much money to obtain gold status when you can join QC for less and get most (not all) of the benefits of gold.

If your going to fly anyway, then why not make sure to get gold. At least, I read the OP to be saying that they had to go to a few places, so they might as well make the most of it.

Gold gets you more points, a heck of a lot more lounges to access, better seating, better checkin, priority upgrades etc etc. The QP is an overpriced pub for domestic travelers and not much more these days, if I was not flying enough to be gold I suspect I would get better value spending that money on a coffee at the airport.
