Hi, I'm brand new to the site so excuse any faux pas.

I've been round the world 4 times, once for fun in 1990 and three times since on business (all business class). My partner and I are thinking of taking our 10 year old round the world in about sept/oct this year. Would prefer business class. Am a QC member and FF but can't use ff points as not allowed to use them for personal travel. Would like to travel to US (Orlando, Washington DC) UK (London etc), a smattering of Europe (incl Poland) plus maybe a stop in asia - not too many stops as we only have about a month.

Does anyone have suggestions for finding a good deal? Any good websites or other tips? Or should I use a travel agent? On our 1990 private trip we flew Singapore airlines RTW through Singapore both ways business class and it was a great deal and fantastic service. Since have travelled Qantas, BA and United (paid by work) and very good as well (like the sky beds).

Thanks for any advice

I guess if your work flys you business class then maybe thats ok, but really thats crazy, its a small gift to an employee for the hardships of flying i figure.

That oneworld products like global explorer and oneworld explorer are a potential starting place but with your limited stops i am sure there is lots of tickets around, try the web sites first.

This fare has restricts on the number of stops, 6 I think when USA is included, but at the price you could always do a side trip in USA outside of the RTW.

ie SYD/BKK/HEL/LHR/JFK/LAX/SYD is routing as you have mentioned, and only the BKK-HEL is required on Finnair, the rest can be BA or Qantas.

This is $3500 cheaper per person than the Explorer/Global fares.

Finnair Business Round The World

Up to 5 stops fr. $7599 + tax!

Finnair, your airline to Europe with a choice of oneworld carriers from Australia to Asia or USA and Finnair to your destination via Helsinki.
Finnair is the first airline in the Nordic countries to introduce lie-flat seats in its intercontinental fleet – so a Business Class flight is now even more comfortable than ever.

This amazing Round The World Business Class airfare allows you up to 5 stops.Valid for departures all the way through to 03 Sep'07 from only $7599 + tax fr. $600.
Travel with Qantas/British Airways/Cathay Pacific to Asia/USA or Africa and then Finnair from Asia to Europe (Helsinki) or from USA to Europe (Helsinki).
You can travel a) via Asia in one direction only b) via North America in one direction only c) via Japan in one direction only or d) via Africa in one direction only.

Thanks Evan and Garyjohn951! further ideas welcome. What websites are you using to find out the info?

regards

Hi Jenib
The SQ/UA RTW at $7507+tax is pretty good and will give you the USA stops you require and an Asian Stop (Singapore). But it wont provide the Europe stuff which could be done seperately on Low Cost (short journey's) airlines in economy and then depart out of say Vienna or Frankfurt.
Also just watch that Finnair fare - which is also a great alternative but im pretty sure the fare does not allow BA trans atlantic which means you have to fly Finnair from the USA to Europe.
:D :D
The other great fare is a United/Lufthansa/Thai combination at the paltry price of $5600 + Tax. This fare does NOT include domestic USA so the routing would be AUST/LAX OR MEL/SFO - IAD/FRA/LON/FRA/BKK/AUST. You could add the SFO/MCO/IAD on whichever carrier is cheapest and if you wanted to do a sidetrip in business on LH from Frankfurt to Warsaw, the extra cost is approx A$572 + Tax return.
First class LAX/MCO/IAD with UA and FL would be approx $1500 one way including tax so all up - $7672 + RTW and Europe taxes....
Cheers

Does anyone here have any experience with the RTW offered by VS and BR (Eva Air)? According to the VS web site, the RTW in D and C respectively would only cost USD3618 + whatever fuel fines and taxes they might cook up. It seems like a great price, even though the itinerary might be a bit limited.

Welcome to AFF Jenib!

A while ago, you could purchase a cheap DONE4 (Business class 4 Cont. OneWorld RTW) ticket from CMB Shrilanka for about $5,500 ++ if I recall correctly.
I don't know if it is still available, although I am sure one of the more experieinced senior AFF members can give you the good oil. The only hassle is you need to start you trip from CMB.

Good luck.

The Finnair allows BA transaltantic. Only needs to be one long haul on AY, BKK-HEL will do.
I got the details off travel.com.au but othersites will have it also.

thanks everyone. I'm going to look into all of your suggestions.

thanks again
