Hey There, bit of a lurker here. So I am finishing off my vacation through Sth America, Carribean and Nth America in New York with my lovely girlfriend. I have just under 200,000 points, and found availability on a classic award to fly back premium economy for 96,000 points (192,000 - in total) in Mid-Aug. Seems pretty good to me - taxes will be about $450 each.

As everyone here has much more experience/knowledge - just wondering if there is any better way of going about this? Should I try to book these as the marginal ASA whilst I can? Will that work? Or will the co-pay be off the chart?

We don't really need to stop off any where else (we will have just finished 4 months of travelling, so our thoughts is that JFK-(LAX)-SYD-ADL is the best way - but more than happy to take on board any any advice at all - it will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance guys and girls!

Other routings such as MEL instead of SYD may offer better availability. Nor should you forget the DFW-(BNE)-SYD routing.
