New Velocity Frequent Flyer TV Commercial

Going further with that idea, maybe the Priority Lane can be turned into an express lane? For people that have their Boarding Pass, or FF card in their hand, ready to go, they can use said lane. If you have a problem, need a seating change, haven't checked in ect act, you can use the regular lane.

That way, you don't get stuck behind somebody who hasn't checked in or needs to move to an earlier flight. (I know it's usually only 30 seconds, but when you are standing behind them, it can feel like a small lifetime... :/)

Thoughts?

But when it's 3 or 4 people that can be a few minutes, which can be very annoying if you're in a hurry.

Agree with your idea - would definitely work.

Update on lounge queue status:

Today in Melbourne a second purple tape barrier has magically appeared as if someone at VA read this thread yesterday and acted immediately to remove the confusion!

(also, irrelevant but interesting that lattes are now served in a glass instead of a cup)

Sheesh, overinterpretation much?

This ad, whilst taking up the points on offerings and "QF issues" from AFF members, is NOT targetted at AFF. It's targetted at other frequent flyers, who may be annoyed at QF, but dont know what Virgin offers now. They wont be worrying about any "inconsistencies", they'll be noting all the "perks" Virgin now offers.

You guys realise that they have 30 seconds to hit the "high points" on a process that can in real life take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, right?

I think the ad is brilliant.

I too think the ad is very good at getting its message across.

But as an FT/AFFer I discern more than the average WP/SG punter - so I felt the need to assuage my disquiet in relation to perceptions of discontinuity.

FWIW, it took me several looks to actually suss out the flow ...

Just saw it on TV again.

Has anybody noticed that for the Priority Checkin Queue sign, listed is the usual people eligible. PE, J, Gold and Platinum. But then two others that below that. I can't see it, can somebody else?

Perhaps Star Alliance Gold?

I had foolishly assumed the ad was an ad... As opposed to a live to air simulation of the boarding process.

I'm 90% sure that the second last one says "Corporate Plus", even though they replaced that with the Flexi fair . But it may say something else but after 10 minutes of pausing and recording back i'm 90% sure that is what it says, still trying to figure out the last one though . Virgin could you tell us?

Shouldn't you be able to ask your friend? Or was she too busy checking out that guy's carry-on? ;)

From the top:
Business
Premium Economy
Velocity Gold
Velocity Silver
Corporate Plus
???

Per Jack's post above ... I think the last one could be "Flexible Fare", but it didn't make sense at the time when I saw it.

I just had another look, i think the last one has the word platinum in it. But i may be wrong.

I've just spent 5 minutes squinting at my screen, and I agree it seems to say platinum "something", almost looks like platinum / something else.

But it's the wrong place for plat, surely that would be above gold?

edit: and the other 50% of the time, I convince myself that it says "Flexible Fare"

Looks like this must have predated something - I agree that last one reads 'Flexible Fare', and no sign of Platinum. Not to worry, I got the point of the ad, it's clear that Platinum should be included on that list, and the real boarding signs do have Platinum on them. No biggie. :)

It does highlight a loss in continuity though.

Velocity silver has priority check-in rights and prioity screening at some airports, but does not hold priority lounge entry, priority lounge entry screening or priority boarding. I'm not complaining so don't bark at me, but as a "not so distant past" silver, the priority check-in was a real benefit of silver, but as the last "priority" services offered (priority lounge entry, priority lounge entry screening and priority boarding) don't include silver, I'm wondering how long it will be before DJ "enhance" the priority check-in to exclude silver?

To settle the discussion on what was listed on the priority boarding sign...

So not up to date yet - missing Platinum yet still has Corporate Plus fares!

It still looks very nice! Would many people still have Corporate Plus fares booked?

I'd say no - wouldn't they just have converted to Flexi fares by now?

For those wondering. The picture is not of any current sign. I may have found a way into the props department at virgin Australia.

Current priority check-in signs are different. I believe the sign above was especially created for the advert.
