I can't find it in Google Play. The article says it's out - any suggestions?

Ah, found it - it was a fair way down indeed, even after BOM app. Loaded, appears pretty basic so far and I note also flicking to a mobile web page for some functions.

VA have taken onboard some of the comments from the beta testers but there is still a long way to go...

I literally just participated in a Virgin market research session to help feedback and fix this app, so hopefully continuous improvement is on the way!

It's fairly basic, I just missed out on actually trialing it for a trip (arrived back on Sunday) so can't comment on how useful it is managing check in/boarding passes etc. but it's got to be an improvement on the current system.

Dropping you out of the app for flight searches is a little annoying but I would expect that to be sorted in the next few revisions. The PR statement reckons it will be for enterainment etc. as well and those sections are missing, so we should probably see them as new versions roll out. I like the look of it too, surprisingly clean :)

Let's see what changes they make between now and my next flight with them (July)

My expectation is that as it grows it will encompass the entertainment and flight specials app. Once they migrate to the new app the will cease the other apps and just have the one.

It's live in the app store now too (iOS), if you have the old VA app you'll just need to update it to the new version.

Seems pretty basic at this stage but definitely a big improvement on the last one. Some points:
- can't view details about points/status credit accumulation (i.e. when, how much, from what etc)
- digital card doesn't open, comes up with an error message

Looks nice and clean, I suppose it's a work in progress. Would be very handy to see seat selection for bookings come up, and also things like intl. Lounge access guide. Also, my award bookings doing come up; only paid ones for the year...

I get the digital card but not the points is status details.

In my view, you don't need to see the points/status credit accumulation (I know the old app used to). It's very common and still valid to have mobile apps show "at a glance" information and you login to the full website for greater detail.

Digital card opens fine for me.

Virgin Australia unveils all-new iPhone, Android app

"Upcoming features include "one-touch check-in"; seat maps for managing seat assignment (and purchasing an upgrade from economy to Economy X); tapping into the Inflight Entertainment system via onboard WiFi; flight specials and flight alerts; airport maps and lounge information; and estimated walking time to your flight's departure gate. "

It seems much quicker than the previous version of the application, so it's a move in the right direction from that standpoint. Being able to check in and then load a boarding pass within the app is also a nice feature, as opposed to swapping all over the place.

The removal of points / status accrual details is a shame though.

I hope this is correct. Right now it seems like a beta version, with much less functionality than the last version.

No ability to manage bookings, seat selection etc. Or track points crediting and accumulation.

Admit it does seem faster, but one would hope so seeing it (currently) does a lot less.

The new Android app does far more than the 'previous' Android app...

An update of the Android app was received last night and it now has more functionality...

You can now get a digital membership card, see your points activity etc.

Certainly moving in the right direction at least. They still have a lot to do on the booking management side of things.

Just downloaded the Android app.

Yes, very basic right now. Very difficult to see what you're supposed to click on, IE. "Velocity Activity History". It's not apparent that that's supposed to be clicked on. It looks like your activity is supposed to appear underneath that, much like the previous two sections (points/SC) above it.

Where do you find the digital membership card?
