New QFF lounge eligibility page - changes to elites guesting pax on other OW flights?

Qantas have updated their lounge info pages and moved eligibility info to a single page for ALL lounges.

Two things to note:

- They have doubled down on QFF elites flying QF metal not being allowed to guest pax on different oneworld flights (which should be permitted as per oneworld rules - there's a previous thread about this from a few years ago which I wasn't able to dig up)
- They are now stating QFF elites travelling on oneworld partners can only guest pax travelling on the same flight - this was not the case on previous lounge eligibility tables!





The relevant oneworld rule is:

Emerald and Sapphire members may invite one guest to join them in the lounge. The guest must also be travelling on a flight operated and marketed by a oneworld carrier.

Are there any QFF elites with recent first hand experience guesting pax on different flights into QF lounges?

No problem in my case as a BA Gold (Emerald) guesting someone flying on a different OW flight.

Other OW elites have their QF lounge guesting rights reflected accurately - it's just QFF elites which lose out from what I can see.

I guess it's another mistake...the correct reference number "1" is shown for WP and WP1 guest allowance for First lounge.
Would make no sense for WP/WP1 to be able to guest someone flying on a OW flight in the F lounge but not J lounge.

Another example of the (very) many times that Qantas lounge eligibility rules have been wrong after a website tweak?

It seems near impossible for them to get right, first time?

The argument in the thread I think you're referring to was along the lines that QF are able to treat their own elites however they want, OW rules don't apply. However this seemed to be shown to be incorrect, as the OP in that thread did finally receive access under OW rules.

Worth keeping in mind that Qantas can do whatever the heck it wants with the right permissions (eg: Emirates)

Looks like Qantas wants to cut down on lounge access fees.

If it sticks - this is a devaluation of Qantas elite status.

I think now AJ actually said something like that about QF and EK !!

But Qantas did confirm, as per the above link, that it's true for lounge access rules for Qantas and OW.

Reading the rules for WP/WP1 for F-Lounge access, they appear as they have been relaxed as condition #1 applies for those on QF flights which states that the guest needs to be on a QF or OW flight rather than old rules which meant they had to be on QF flight. Or I’m reading this totally incorrectly...

They are separate in SYD Domestic

Qantas must have realised their mistake and have now updated their guest access policy to reflect reality.

A QF Plat/OW Emerald I met on a recent flight 2 days ago was able to guest me in to CX The Pier First Class Lounge and we were proceeding on to two different destinations from HKG

There are quite a few hidden devaluations in this new lounge accessibility page.

As I pointed out in another thread, there's now no access to lounges for persons connecting to/from an international J/F flight on a domestic Y flight.

It now says:

Lounge access eligibility is based on the class of travel or the Frequent Flyer Membership tier for your next onward flight.

Noticed something interesting on this (absolute trainwreck of an) eligibility page: apparently EK and QF F/J pax can now guest pax travelling on any airline!



Pretty sure they've stuffed up the ^5 fine print (anyone airside at international should be travelling) but amusing nonetheless. Someone give it a go and report back!

Unless of course you are friends with someone who works at the airport (e.g. in one of the duty free stores) and they’re on their lunch break?
