Hmm piece vs. weight - always a debate.
However for next year's trip there will be three of us in J so I think we should be ok with nine bags and 276KG
Geez that's a lot! You skiing or something? Or just going to a really cold climate?
This brings it in line with BA except for the QF allowance for WP in Y+ and all in J and F is 32 where BA only allows 23kg per piece IIRC

Information for frequent flyers British Airways Executive Club Gold and Silver members, AA Advantage Executive Platinum and Platinum members and Iberia Plus Platinum and Gold members can check in 2 bags in all cabins, on all routes, unless the cabin allowance is greater. British Airways Executive Club Gold and Silver members, AA Advantage Executive Platinum and Iberia Plus Platinum members can take the maximum weight of 32kg per bag without paying the heavy bag charge. This applies to all passengers travelling on the same booking. Baggage allowances on other airlines If your booking includes travel with British Airways and another airline, the British Airways baggage allowance may be more generous and you could be charged for extra baggage by the other airline. |
I see it as being able to pack multiple wet suits!!! WOHOO!96Kg would mean that if travelling whilst diving I would take my own weights and tanks... Although I am not sure I would actually want to do that.

Shortie, vest, hood, 3mil, 5mil or maybe even my 8mil instead of the 5 - who knows? Brilliant.
Dive gear alone usually sits around 20kg w regs and a suit, not including the housings.
Finally, a proper 'enhancement'.
Whoa, wait a minute... Where are all the complaints that the piece system sucks?
BA F & J (club world) is 3 bags at 32kgs each
BA J (club europe) is 2 bags at 32kgs each
Free baggage allowances
......
Agreed, this will be a *big* improvement for the trips my wife takes back home - and I can assure you she can easily fill 3x32kg bags with no worries at all (and no doubt 2 of my 3x32kg allowances too I'm sure ).
