Yeah with a suitcase or two it will be inconvenient, especially if it's raining or peak summer. I wouldn't be doing it before a long flight. Hope there will be a shuttle bus or something.
Part of the reason QF are being such sticklers about sending their international flights from T3 is so people avoid this sort of problem. You'll still have to do international grade security when transiting DOM>INT but the terminal change thing won't be an issue anymore.I recall a few years ago flying Melb to Perth then Joburg. First leg plane was packed and to much luggage brought inside and could not fit in overhead lockers so they had to be transferred to cargo. Thus the flight arrived over a hour late to Perth. Upon arriving at Perth no buses to take us to International terminal so had to get a taxi and go through all the security stuff again and eventually go on the flight -just made it- was very stressful and never going to leave from Perth again -
Pretty sure the new Redcliffe station will be walking distance to Terminal 3/4?
Anything is within walking distance if you are prepared to walk- and walk...
My recollection is that this was always a criticism of the train route - but that it was to become irrelevant once all main services moved over to the T1 side.
Its position was moved in 2014, to service the residential areas better, and there was an expectation that T3/T4 wouldn't still be in use for long after the line was built.
Much better timing for onward connectionsQantas has just updated the schedule for the northern summer period (April-October), bringing forward the departure times by several hours during those months.
Published at 0900GMT 05AUG22 Qantas in Northern summer 2023 season is adjusting operational schedule on Perth – Johannesburg route, effective 28MAR23. The 3 weekly flights with A330-200 aircraft is scheduled to depart Perth in late-morning hours, instead of mid-afternoon. Johannesburg departurewww.aeroroutes.com
Not a brilliant area to be lugging a suitcase around. I recently walked from T3 to the nearby startrack distribution centre, probably a kilometre but mostly on the road and not fun with a suitcase. Would be horrible in the heat of summer and/or poor winter in weather.According to the maps, it's 2km and a 25 minute walk...

Not worried about flight more concern whether luggage from Melbourne will be on the same flight when flying Qantas as reports are not good - does anyone know about Melb - Singapore - Jnb luggage issues - whether better - my reason for asking is I want to take sporting clothing for children and dont want to arrive and find it has not arrive as will upset the schools.Appreciate commentsMuch better timing for onward connections
