New Qantas promos including double status credits (book by 3/9/25; travel 4/9/25 until 22/8/26)

Obviously, I'm super happy about this reversal.

Could someone please assist me with me query?

If I make a booking during this promotion, but then need to change the date of the booking, will I still receive the DSCs (no other changes made)?

Exact dates of my trips will be known about a week after the promotion ends (unfortunate timing).

Any confirmation received will be highly appreciated.

If you retain the same booking reference (PNR) and travel within the validity period of the offer - Yes.

Thinking of 3 possibilities regarding the reversal:
  1. IT kids couldn't code the exclusion of the LTSC
  2. High registration, but low bookings. Perhaps they compared the data with last year or March this year and realised people aren't biting?
  3. Some middle manager approved it but perhaps someone higher up realised that it's causing a stir and reversed it?
Bit of a shame that the loyalty bonus doesn't count towards LT for those who are chasing LT status.

This whole episode reminds us of how precarious the LT status chase is.
My guess is #2. Qantas has never been worried about doing things that prompt outcry among its frequent flyers. It's only when it starts to reflect in the bottom line do the apologies/reversals begin.

Offer has been changed. Does now count towards lifetime status.

Color me astonished but very pleased at this reversal.

Do you think it applies to bookings I have already made, for flights within the validity period of the offer? I tried to see if it only applies to bookings made after accepting the offer, but I cannot find the T&Cs.
Yes, it does. See the asterisks in T&Cs above in @Princess Fiona's post

If I book a flight now with qantas gift card purchased during the last DSC will I get DSC for these flights?
as. then will be tied to the last DSC.

Yeah I think you missed the point completely. The results show those events haven’t been challenging at all. QF is as strong as ever.
I'm not doubting that, but whichever way you spin it, the PR on their antics isn't good, so anything positive they can spin helps. At the end of the day, a lot of people use QF out of either a lack of options or being bonded to QFF (as most of us are in one way for better or worse, hence why we're here), so it's not like they're really going to suffer.

I have just this morning made a DSC booking on Qantas that yesterday looked to be heading to another airline before the backflip. That will take me to only needing 73 SCs for LTG. If the freebie 40 SCs could count I will only need 33 ... then I might chase the green leaf.

Separate question but I am flying on QF127 in a few weeks but sold as AY5006. Do I have any chance of this counting as a Qantas eligible flight? This year I will burst through the 700 SCs needed for gold but will only be 3 out of 4 for the required eligible flights unless this AY5006 / QF127 flight counts.

Apologies for going off-topic.

Two DSC in one year.

The dark side to this is that QF has to continue running these campaigns, or big chunks of people lose status (since so many people are dependent on DSC to retain status).

In this sense, the status economy is semi-artificially propped up by campaigns.

While this isn't necessarily a bad thing, just think about it next time you're in the business class domestic lounge and can't get a seat even though you're paying $1,000 for a one-way SYD-MEL in J.
There has been three in one year, 2019 I think it was...I do agree with you though.

The thing is, this isn't unique to QF (although QF are aggressive with it). I really hope we don't end up on a revenue based earn too soon, although I think that eventually it'll happen (maybe me saying it will stop it happening ha).

also I have a flight SYD SIN. part of the last DSC. if I change during this DSC to the new date will I get DSC for the new booking?

It needs to be QF marketed to count. Purchasing under a different airline’s flight number it wouldn’t count.

I don’t think this change was targeted at limiting LTP numbers. I think too many getting LTG too young is probably what they are looking to address.

Even after this change I am still likely to get to LTG with quite possibly more flying years ahead of me than behind.
If that were the case, why not just move the bar though? I agree it'll have limited effect (imo) on limiting LTPs who weren't going to get there anyway, as the bar is very high, but LTS/LTG is low in comparison (not too low, it's still a lot of flying for all but those who aren't doing it anyway, but in comparison to LTP it is).
My 2c as another data point.

I've not received any emails regarding the DSC or the loyalty gift. Only became aware of the DSC in conversation yesterday evening. I opened my app at that moment and there was no reference to it there either but saw the loyalty gift so that's something. Considering that I have given QF over $10k during DSC periods in the last 12 months you'd think they'd be right onto sending me that email.

The timing of the gift is great for me seeing that 1st Sept is my anniversary date. Combine that with a banked loyalty bonus that I'll be able to claim after the 1st before they change the rules, means that I'll start off the membership year with 200SC.

In saying that, it will all be moot anyway as I wasn't going to come close to maintaining WP this year anyway. As a result the DSC is largely meaningless to me seeing that I have already made most of my QF bookings for the next 12 months. Only big outstanding one(s) is a europe trip which we were likely going EK on anyway as didn't want the faff of connecting and a US/CAN trip but were looking to burn VA points on that.
I hadn't received anything initially, but the email did arrive some time yesterday in the end.

I have been told that is also counting towards lifetime status now.
That would be good, do you have any source re this for sure?

QF127 would count, but being sold as AY5006 means it definitely won't.

No, you'd have to canx and rebook entirely.
