Re: FlyBuys and EY

Why is Sydney-AKL higher in mileage required compared to Sydney - ZQN :)

Re: FlyBuys and EY

I'm curious as to the reasons to partner with EY and not VA.
I have a few clues as to why - but what does everyone else think?

Re: FlyBuys and EY

Also is award availability on VA difficult to get using ey miles?

Re: FlyBuys and EY

Because SYD-AKL > 1,250 miles.
SYD-ZQN < 1,250 miles.

VA may make more seats available to its own members than partner airline members. So there could be less award availability available to EY members. Also, you have to book over the phone at least a fortnight in advance with Etihad.

Re: FlyBuys and EY

Oh really didn't know that. Always thought Zqn is further from Sydney......

FWIW I think that checking for VA availability on the Delta website would be a fairly good indication of what's available to Etihad Guest members.

Re: FlyBuys and EY

you cant redeem J on virgin domestic business, despite the fact they publish the mileage.

http://www.etihadguest.com/en/spend-miles/airline-partners/virgin-australia/

going by this page: http://www.etihadguest.com/en/spend-miles/airline-partners/virgin-australia/

it looks like you need to be silver or higher to redeem on virgin?, how many tier points would i need per year to get sliver

EDIT: sorry again but under airline parnter i see 'american' if you look here: http://www.etihadguest.com/Documents/Etihad Guest/member benefits/American-Airlines-redemption.pdf

domestic sectors then it does say within australia(plus other places) economy peak 10,000 so you could travel for 10,000 points anywhere in australia(does american partner with qantas) if so would all flights be available?

Re: FlyBuys and EY

There is nothing on that page saying you need to be silver to redeem VA.

The other chart you linked to has nothing to do with va. Refer only to the va chart.

I have about 80,000 FB points. I'm not (yet) a member of the Etihad loyalty scheme. There appears to be some incentive to convert and book very quickly. However I don't have any immediate need to fly.
I'm wondering what the deal with converted FB points is where "upgrade requests " are concerned.
I shall make a point of joining the EY program and linking. But as I have only ever concentrated on QF until now, I'm a bit green and may need some tuition.

I thought that too, Coles used to have a relationship with VA with flyby's redemptions, so maybe that relationship is not as strong as what it may have been in the past.

My view on this week's development is EY is looking to enhance its brand equity in Australia ( Brand recognition is growing, but still lacks many of its competitors) and offered a compelling offer to Coles in terms of the financials of the deal.

I remember not that long ago, EY knocking on the door of QF looking for a codeshare arrangement, as we know QF turned its back on this and went with EK.
I suspect EY has a lot of confidence initiating conversation in Australia, particularly with an Aussie CEO at the helm.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

SYD-ZQN and BNE-VLI are both 6,900 EY miles in Y. That's the equivalent of 17,250 Flybuys points which would ordinarily convert to supermarket savings of $86.25.
I currently have 30000 Flybuy pts...I need to get to 40000 Flybuy pts to convert to 16000 Eithad miles (can only convert in multiples of 10000 Flybuy pts)....I will then have enough (13800 Etihad miles) for a return VA flight Syd-Zqn rtn (can retail up to $600+) on VA Y....probably the best value I can squeeze out of my Flybuy pts...the Q is how long will it take to earn another 10000 Flybuy pts?

Coles have provided me with 3 x 10000 points in recent months. $50 or $80 spend over 4 weeks.
Hopefully you'll get a similar offer emailed to you :)

Interesting offers I've never received anything like that, but I'd be happy for one...

As a relatively new flyby's card holder I've been literally flooded with great offers recently, particularly Coles Supermarkets and Liquorland/First Choice.
Although many other long term flybys members have been receiving similar offers also.
I think Coles/Flyby's really profile and target customers better than Woolworths/EDR's.
