Just booked a K class return MEL-SIN-PEK for myself and partner. I note even as VFF Plat I cannot pre-select seats at all, I might try calling up and asking but not expecting much.
The K fare class was ~550pp return. W was ~1000pp return. This is just a long weekend over Melbourne cup so price was most important for us.
K falls into discount economy with VFF pooling, so obviously not as lucrative as it was, but still a decent option when family pooling. I try to fly Qantas with work and Virgin with family for the pooling to maintain gold in both programs.
