Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

One thing I do like (and which I also use on FlyerTalk) is the ability to display the newest posts first, so that the thread goes from newest to oldest.

All I need to do now is open a thread, and then scroll down to the last post I have previouslt read, and then start reading up.

Makes it easier on a multi-page thread to work out which page to start from.

Yada Yada - have made some changes to the templates. The quote boxes now do have a (slightly) different background to the rest of the message.

JohnK - I think we have resolved the random smily issue. You can now have upto 6 smilies per message - more than enough, me thinks!
Thanks Admin.

But we still have a problem where smilies of quoted posts count. So I am deleting smilies from your post now.

I now have 21 smilies at my mercy with only one duplicated. Fantastic.

Dave,

I've never had a problem with over-use of smilies. ;) On longer posts, it would be easy to use 3 or 4 but this is no longer possible if there is already one in quoted text or you use a "Post Icon".
I don't understand over use of smilies.

Some people like to use them a lot. Let them have it. Others use it in moderation. Overall there is a workable balance.

What is the difference in the editors when using the "switch editor mode" button?

:p  :) :D ;)

Admin - that's brilliant! Many thanks. :D

Situation with images

It appears "Smilies" and Images are treated the same.
... You are limited to using 6 images ...

Images include use of smilies, the vB code tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator
So l posts like this " Has the new temporary SYD T1 F QP opened yet? Post #10" aren't possible.

No real issue; we'll just have more posts. (Report Part 1, Report Part 2, Report Part 3, ...)

I know that, I have been doing it on FT now for well over a year, but it is a new feature of AFF and a lot of people may not know that the feature exists.

My personal preference is to right click on the little downward facing arrow for the "go to first new post" and open it in a new tab. Always takes me straight to the first new post in the thread. I find this better for me as it keeps the sequence of the posts rather than seeing the last post first.

That's what I generally use and it works well, to a point.

If you are viewing posts and have to stop before you have seen all the new posts as indicated by the
firstnew.gif
and don't get back to it before certain criteria are met (time since last activity may be one) this no longer works. In this case one needs to check the date and time of last post for each thread one is interested in.

It's the same with the "New Posts" on the upper tool bar.

Sound advice. Thanks. I find it easier to use this feature than displaying the last post and scrolling backwards to find the last post read.
