Today Qantas is going to launch a codeshare agreement with MH. Will cover some of those gaps that 3K have left.

‌From today Qantas customers can book codeshare flights operated by Malaysia Airlines from Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney to Kuala Lumpur, with onward connections to Langkawi, Penang, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching. ‌

‌Codeshare flights will be available to book from today for travel from 26 October 2025.

Very interesting, I wonder if this might expand in the future to some other cities like BKK or MNL which I used to use 3k to connect back to Perth via Singapore on qf. But I doubt it given they'd probably prefer us to take the direct jq (no chance with the horrible flight times ex Perth though)

The relationship must be improving. First they improve the earnings tables , now this!
when did they improve the MH earning tables? Are they back to how they used to be before the RedQ proposal collapsed their prior relationship? (QF sponsored MH into oneworld)

Was improved from the 1st of September 2025.

  • Fare codes Y, B and H now earn Economy again instead of Discounted.
  • Fare codes A, F, C, D and J now earn in Business instead of Flex Eco for flights between Australia and EU/Malaysia/UK/NZ/Middle East

Well true... .but after all at least in terms of flight connections they are both one world so it should have always been the case frankly. Never really understood why QF do not do this more.
Unfortunately most of the decent business fare prices are Z fares and it’s often double to choose Flex fares that credit a decent amount
And I guess for some of the flights with beloved Qantas FF, fly MH biz and get credited Y flex of something. Cowboys!

I wonder how long it will take to get code shares on the SIN-KUL MH flights.
The direct MH PER-KUL is now showing as a QF code share (price ridiculous) but the connection to KUL after taking QF 71 PER-SIN is still MH and only appears to earn on a FLEX fare (5 Sc)
Someone should have warned me than planning is required for serious wandering
Fred

Welcome move, but prices are more than a bit inflated. Will see if this improves over time.

Can someone fill me in? I didn't recognise 3K and also, I thought you could always book reward flights on MH, or has something changed in the relationship?
3K was Jetstar Asia, the branch based in Singapore that was acting as a feeder network for a lot of QF flights. Previously the default KUL option when you searched it up was xx_ - SIN - KUL with the last leg on Jetstar Asia. They ceased operations recently.

MH was always a awards partner, but this is now codesharing. It allows you to book the flight as a QF code flight which has pros and cons. (Mainly better status and points earn). It's also a sign that QF and MH are mending their relationship which at some point went a bit sour. Perhaps we'll see more happen over time at KUL.

3K = Jetstar Asia which recently shut down in earlier this year.

The change in relationship between QF and MH is that now you can book codeshare flights that are operated by MH to Malaysia.

Codeshare flights (starting in QF) will now earn at QF status credits and points rather than earn at Malaysia Airlines rates.

Reward bookings are still available but booked under the MH code.

I am disappointed that Jakarta and Denpasar are not added as the codeshare destination with Qantas.
Honestly, it would have been much more appealing to fly Qantas Business to Denpasar and then codeshare with MH to KUL to maximise status credits.
