any idea how long it takes for purchased miles to reflect in the account? purchased 2 days ago and still nothing.

Thanks for that exceladdict. I fear this will dry up once the merger is complete.

Im inclined to agree, no reason for it to stay more generous. However I doubt it will be worse than the current AA chart, they've been quite careful not to upset frequent flyers in the process so far. Here's to hoping.

Should be more or less immediate, or one day at most. Has your card been charged yet (i.e. a line item showing the purchase showing in your online statement)? Do you have a confirmation email?

I'm also hoping that they won't "enhance" the current AA chart. Maybe the only thing that would be nice is perhaps slightly more transit zones possible.

The main issue that many of the AAdvantage and Dividend Miles member cohort are having now are mainly related to upgrades and possibly lifetime status, which doesn't affect a whole lot of us.

The main thing I would not be optimistic about are the rules around redemptions reflecting more DM's rules, e.g. en route stopovers or loose rules around routing. If it happens anyway, that'll be a bonus, not a given.

got a sms about the charge when i did it online but havent seen a confirmation email or actual line on my online statement yet. might be still going through the process.

According to the DM agent I just spoke to (in response to me asking for a route via DOH) claimed that "The whole travel industry" considers North/South America, Europe/Africa, and Asia/Australia Zones 1, 2 and 3 respectively. You're not allowed to cross the one in the middle to get to the other.

Perhaps the tightening has indeed begun. :D

She is right about the zones, but I never thought about that for routing rules.

The agent was incorrect as far as USDM is concerned. There are only a couple of broad zone restrictions, and other rules such as 'most direct route' and MPM may apply.

USDM allows routing from Australia to East Coast USA via Europe for example, which is a zone 3 to 1 via zone 2. AA is much more restrictive.

It's a case of HUACA.

Mine posted in about 5 minutes. May have something to do with the promotion ending.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

delays of up to 72 hours for miles to post have been reported several times - this can happen for new accounts, and sometimes if the transaction takes place on a weekend (USA time).

it will either (a) sort itself out or (b) the transaction hasn't gone through for whatever reason. If the latter, any authorisation on your credit card will drop off at the time set by your bank. I'm not aware of any successfully getting points credited if they missed the cut-off for a promotion (if the credit card wasn't processed).

Thanks MEL. Guess I'll just wait to see if it comes through. It is a new account so could be that.
