I was referring to non status PAX - they can't select seats forward of row 13.

It did seem seat selection was unavailable for non status more than 14 days before a flight - I'll recheck after clearing all cookies ...

Ahh right - gotcha! :)

I am sure some have been waiting for me to rant about Virgin.

Weekend outage - Acceptable
Website working but important parts having errors - FAIL

Virgin you continue to FAIL

At least you are consistent with it
Have you any affected bookings or are you simply complaining about this because it is VA :?:

I have a booking on Wed afternoon and in the unlikely event that I cannot checkin on line I'll simply roll up at the airport, allowing a little more time than usual, and checkin at the airport. I did what was suggested and printed out, as I always do, my booking details.

I know this does not help those trying to book but it does point to the fact that not everything is a disaster.

OH is flying to the US in a few weeks and wanted to reprint his itinerary as 3 out of the 4 flights have had time changes, but the VA website just keeps giving an error message that the booking can't be found. Have tried both the PNR (original Amadeus one) and his Velocity number, still can't get anything - no go on the Velocity website either, just keep getting an internal server error message. Looks like he's in for a long wait on the phone to the GCC to get the new Sabre PNR - what a pain in the proverbial.

ETA: Did a bit more looking around on the website and it seems that now you can only view your long-haul international booking (that's if you can even retrieve it, which we can't!), you can't request online for the intinerary to be resent - you have to ring the GCC. That seems like a big step backwards to me - why on earth add to the call centre load for something that could be easily done online before?

Trying to view existing bookings. I think i might just take it easy

Can't post picture, but the error message I get is:

Oops, fatal server error. Contact administrator please or just take it easy.

You have not ever been able to request Long haul international bookings be resent online - you've always had to call.

OK,

Seat Selection is available for non status PAX.

On 73H's in Economy from MEL to SYD it appears to be:

  • WP - Row 3 (and back)
  • SG - Row 7 (and back)
  • PS - Row 11 (and back)
  • NR - Row 13 (and back)

Business seems to be any available seat in the cabin at the time of booking.

With the PER Coast to Coast flights, seat selection for non status is not available on Business fares until T-14 days.

Oh bother ! Finally managed to book a flight - and after an eternity of "processing your payment", got the "Error at Origin" message. However, a few minutes later received my itinery via email - so "yay" it worked ! A few minutes after that - and another email came through - different booking reference but for the same details. Looks like my flight booking has been duplicated. Am assuming I will be double charged, so will probably have to be brave and call Customer Service and see if I can get it sorted out. Can anyone tell me if ringing the Velocity Platinum number is still working - or are all calls just going through to a central number and "wait in the queue" situation ? Have seen some very scary waiting times !

Cheers,

Brooke

I would not be concerned about wait times - I would be calling right now (this calendar day) ...

Everything I have now tried including online checkin for a Wednesday afternoon flight is now working. (ie I checked in and printed boarding passes 37.5 hrs before the flight)

I am WP and partner is SG but neither of us can select seats for a J flight Syd-Per-Syd in March.

VA feedback to me suggests that pre-12 Jan (or 9 Jan given the early closure of velocity) bookings will have absolutely no seat selection available.

That's odd - I'm quite sure I did this online for our US trip in late 2011, as several of the flights had had time changes! Maybe I just imagined it :) .

Regardless, still can't retrieve OH's booking - original PNR doesn't work and neither does his Velocity number. Seeing as the SC issue seems to have been fixed on Velocity, I tried checking "My Bookings" on his account this morning, but still get an error message that the booking can't be found.

I can look at a SQ booking I have that was paid for with VA points. I can't recall if I could look at seat allocations or not.

You (or OH) may need to call to get the new booking reference and add the Velocity numbe (if not there).
