New Amex statement credits

Yes, as long as you still reach the minimum spend requirement.

Hi Dr Ralph, I just booked a hotel via Amex travel online utilising my travel credit and statement credit. The prices were almost comparable between Amex Travel website and the hotel website albeit only a small fraction more for Amex - which was easily overcome by the statement credit.

However, there was no option to pay with two Amexes on the online portal. Cannot see how to stack unless I ring them to pay but that then means it is not an online transaction?

Why are you trying to use 2 different cards in one transaction? I don't believe I suggested that you could use 2 x $50 off vouchers in the one transaction. This would be the only reason you would need to use 2 AMEX cards.

What I suggested was that you could use 1 x $50 off voucher and combine that with the credit ($200 for example) that came with your AMEX card. So to get the $50 off your total spend would be $400 in this example. This means you are only ever using 1 AMEX card.

Sorry, brain failure ... misread.

Does anyone know if booking a car hire through Amex Travel means the rental will be prepaid rather than paid on pick-up of car? I need to rent a car for early March so this offer will only be useful to me if it's prepaid.

I rang up today so can answer my own question. Car hires are charged at the time of booking, not at the time of the hire. So we can take advantage of the statement credit for hires after the expiry of the offer.

I have two free amex's (ie. not paying a fee). what is my chances of getting another amex card maybe one with a fee?

Is the limit 2 for one person for amex amex?
I have amex edge, reserve, plat charge, and biz charge and gold accelerator.
i have 5 plus anz amex

Activated my Explorer card, got a spend $30 get $10 back at Woolworths. The terms says excludes online gift cards, but not normal wish cards in store? Might try it.

I think all new activations have gained this for a while.

Pretty sure you would gain the cashback regardless of what you bought.

Mine didn't unfortunately - got an Amex Essential card (my first Amex-issued Amex) in December and was hoping to get the 30/10 Woolworths offer as had seen it mentioned before in relation to new activations, but I didn't get that offer. I did get "spend $100 with WW Online, get $30 off" which is nowhere near as attractive, especially as I never use online shopping with either WW or Coles. I did try to use it but, as with a previous similar Amex Connect offer on my CBA-issued Amex, the damn payment portal won't work. I don't know what the problem is, and no one can tell me why it happens, but on both occasions with each Amex card, within a couple of seconds of clicking the payment button on the WW Online site, I got "we have received a decline message from the bank for your debit/credit card payment. Please try again or contact your bank".

The first time it happened, with the CBA Amex, I tried around half a dozen times and got the same error message. Checked with CBA, no problem with card (they said they could see the authorisation request hitting my account and "bouncing back" each time but couldn't give a reason why), rang WW Online Customer Service, no problem they could see from their end (apparently they should be able to see a code which identifies why the payment didn't go through, but the CSO said he couldn't see anything like that), so I gave up in the end. When I received this offer with the Amex Essential card, I tried again, with exactly the same result. WW Online can't see a problem, and Amex can't tell me what the problem is either. Have tried using different browsers (Chrome and Safari) with the same result, so don't bother with these WW Online offers now - hugely frustrating though. Haven't had this issue with any other website (both cards work OK with Dan Murphy's site, which of course is part of WW group), or using either card anywhere else.

I had this happen when trying to pay WW online, I tried two direct Amex and a bank issued Amex (that had the offer registered) no avail. I was lucky that logging out of WW, then logging back on fixed it for me.

That's interesting! Rather relieved to hear I'm not the only one this has happened to. I can't recall whether I tried logging out and in again when I had those issues, so might have to give it a go and see if that works - thanks!

I just got the Explorer for Mrs.Radio and was hoping to put the Amex travel statement credit on it, thing is being a new card it doesn't come up only the new ones from here on in will. I had a look through this thread for the manual link but it isn't here only the TGIF got mentioned only, also on ozbargain there is only the TGIF link. Is there any way to get the manual link? I can't see it on Amex connect either. Hope someone can help

If you mean the $50 back for $200 spend. No. It's a targeted offer. I got it on about 1/3 of my cards. Have used them but cash back not yet received. Suspect I will have to chase it up.

It's a billing post code issue in my experience. Check it hasn't wiped your billing address details when you are making the payment.
