New Amex Shop Small program - earn 3 bonus points per $1 year-round

I think Easi (which recently ran a spend 70 get 10 Amex Offer) might also be earning an additional 3 points per dollar under the Shop Small promo?!

Anyone else ordered from Easi and able to check their statement?

I tried having a look at my statement @sudoer but unfortunately I have about 30 shop small credits lumped in a row and couldn't easily identify one that might reflect the Easi transaction!

I am delighted to say Van Bone restaurant in Tassie is on the Shop small program.

I much prefer the "old" Shop Small where you get $$ back. Every now and then I get thrown a few extra MR points but it is not immediately obvious which shop has triggered the extra points...even if I can figure it out, it is not worth the effort to seek them out and spend more there!

I absolutely agree that this SS promotion is too hard to track. It doesn't have to be this hard but Amex makes it so through lack of information. It would've been far more customer friendly if the email notifications continued for the entirety of the promotion as well as periodic coughulative totals (both with an opt-out capability for anyone who doesn't want them of course)

As it stands there's a lot of manual work involved to maximise the promotion e.g. exporting statements to CSV, marrying transactions which have triggered the promo, and keeping a tally of total SS points earned on each card. If the point of the promotion is to incentivise spend with Shop Small merchants, it should not be *this* hard to work out which of your previous transactions has earned additional points.

Having said that, I'm torn because the new Shop Small is without a doubt more exploitable if you can find eligible suppliers to meet your purchasing needs.... from a value perspective, the new SS has been far kinder to me (probably going to max the promo on three cards at this rate)

Have made a thousand points out of this format at best. I use to go out of my way to shop small locally, particularly cafes, butchers and boutique grocers across Hobart. Just don’t do that anymore, particularly with the time and cost.

Its a ~1.5% discount, just not worthwhile, considering the myriad of discount gift cards can give 5-15% off a lot of the same places.

Agree. This isn't Small Shop any more and they should stop calling it that.

Is this offer no longer offered to new applicants? I applied for a Qantas Ultimate ~1 month ago and have received my first statement but unable to get this offer to show up.

It used to be $10 off $20 spend which essentially =50% off

Now at 3 extra points, the benefit has increased from a tiny 1% to 4% give or take

Definitely not worth pursuing unless the purchases you already would do

Yes, it was effectively $50 cashback per card over the previous four Shop Small promos.

I'm lucky enough to need to make fairly big ticket tech purchases at competitively priced suppliers who are also coincidentally Shop Small merchants. Given this the current 40k Shop Small points per card (particularly on QFF points earning cards) is more beneficial to me than the $50 cashback.

Do check your statements for the Shop Small bonus points, especially for large transactions where they are easy to spot.

I've done multiple transactions >$100 at a small business which is on the merchant map with the Shop Small symbol but no bonus came through. The chat agent initially said it's not a Shop Small merchant. It's only when I sent him the direct web link that he agreed to escalate the matter.

I've given up on ss because I csnt tell which transaction I get my bonus points for 30 days later
If you’re interested to see where the bonus points have come from, you can log onto your account via the web page (not the app), and click the green “View Details” button in the QFF Points box.
That will display your points earned by each transaction, including the Shop Small bonus points.
You can then divide the SS bonus point amounts by 3 to derive the underlying transaction amount, and then look back down the transaction list to match the original transaction.
Its a bit of faffing about, but it gets you the information…
From my transaction list, it *appears* that the bonus points post in 2-4 days following the transaction (YMMV).

One vendor I‘ve identified this way that might be of interest to some members of this forum is BoozeBud… 🥂🍻🍷🥃🍹

You’d need a drink after that amount of hassle.

The problem is that this isn't reliable if you have multiple similarly priced transactions.

Oak Barrel are also part of Shop Small! 🍻
