New Amex policy — payments must come from a bank account in your own name

I received the email for my personal CC and the clause about personal bank accounts. Since I have a monthly DD for the statement balance - no drama.

I am reading the Payments > “How to Pay You Bill” when logged into my online account and under the Direct Debit section it says:

“Please note, our online enrolment is not available for Direct Debit payments from Joint Accounts.”

I’m not sure if this was there before, by mine is set to debit from my joint offset account I have with my partner and there doesn’t seem to be a problem.

Yes this has been around for a long time - but they expressly told me I am unable to set up a card autopay from a joint account. I asked because it couldn’t be done on line. This is at least 10 years ago.
