New 3 class 747 layout - QF7/8/15/16/107/108

Just flew BNE LAX on qf15 in 5B.Absolutely excellent seat. The storage to the side is a win. Infinite leg room, nobody to bother you, quite private with the bulkhead/exit in front.Service was top notch too with an excellent crew.The toilet thing is a pest though. One of the two was out of service, as was one of the PE ones. Queues were ridiculous. Its bad enough when all are functioning, but this was jusany believable for a 'premium' product. Qf need to address this if they are serious about service.

Did the crew know the toilets were not working prior to take-off?

The reason has more to do with the space in front, as the entire cabin is pretty much in front of you and no one behind. The cabinet in front is useful too. 16 J/K would be good for a couple as there is no A/B and again the whole cabin is in front. New generation seats have a lot of room anyway. Also the toilet is at the front so the traffic past the seats is really only FAs

And quite possibly a tad quieter as well.
 
I have a flight booked to Dallas later in the year and was wondering what the the collective wisdom on best seats for a family of 4, 2 adults 2 children (9 and 10)? I am leaning towards 2 A/B/J/K as I generally prefer to sit downstairs, although usually I am on my own, verse the slight novelty for the children of being upstairs and then possibly sitting in 12 A/B/J/K. At this stage the whole cabin looks quite empty so I have the pick of the seats.

I like 12, but again more for the novelty. I too usually travel downstairs when travelling alone - however normally down the back! :)
 
i have seen advice that row 1 is quite intimate and could work well for a group four.
+1 to that advice :D AND i know this will sound weird but using the OPEN bassinets to utilize for 'junk/stuff' storage for bits n pieces during the flight within the max weight limit...AND OF COURSE IF NOT ALREADY USED BY INFANTS :D ...just ask the F/A..i've done it!! :D

Thanks for the input. I know that either 1J/K or 11J/K was already taken so will have another look. While never having sat in row 1 of the refurbed 747, I always had the perception that it was a bit more closed in / tight than the other rows.

It would appear this aircraft is scheduled to operate on my next flights SIN-BNE and MEL-SIN.

I have chosen 43H but wondering if there is any noticeable difference between row 43CH and 60H. Both appear to be bulkhead and if anything like the old 40G on the 4 class aircraft legroom should not be an issue.

Both of these flights look lightly loaded but I like the fact i have so many bulkhead aisle seats to choose from and that is the reason I stayed away from SIN-PER flights and the Emirates flights. Some of the Emirates flights look to have very good timings into SIN but as a QF Platinum I do not know what sort of seat I can choose so likely to wait until people report back on their experiences.

43H is much better, but the bulkhead doesn't quite come as far out from the wall as the seats so you get a bit of doorway in front of you. Hard to explain, but it means you might get hit by the curtain a bit as the FAs come through.
43G is a better aisle bulkhead imo.
 
I'll be on QF107 and QF108 in May this year and have booked Y+, with a request for an upgrade to J using points. I've chosen seat 36K. Seems like extra legroom and it's not close to any toilets..

I was actually thinking of 43A or 43K to be out of the way but do not want to feel too claustrophobic.

43G is a better aisle bulkhead imo.
I agree but at this stage these are blocked out bassinet seats.

Watch this space. My flight back is last day of February and I will certainly have a look at 60H to get a comparison with row 43.
 
My son flew on QF7 in 60H, and at 5'6" or 165cm, found that whilst it was good not to have anyone reclining, the lack of a cutout to extend his feet for 14 hours made it uncomfortable. YMMV

I was in 60H the other day and while its certainly not as good as 43 it is a damn site more comfortable than a regular economy row. Legroom is definitely a couple of inches more than standard but you certainly can't stretch right out.
