Not sure how zone A can be stuffy when compered to the 18 Skybed Mk I three class configuration.

Here's a mini TR on 3F: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....-photos/sydney-new-york-via-dallas-38139.html

In any case, all true perceptions/reports are welcome. The lavatory issue was not unexpected ...

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

Thanks serfty. I'm not as adept with links as you. I would say 3f seemed to have plenty of privacy. The lack of toilets is not really noticeable on night flights.

Great read, thanks.

I've always wanted to sit in Row 1 on this config, however it does look a little too cosy up front - how close are the feet of 1B / 1J pax when the bed is fully extended?

Given I'm travelling alone, I've moved from 14B to 5J

Row 1 is probably the worst row. All MkII seat have more room, but the issue for Row 1 is packing 4 seats in there! The cupboard in the nose is also a major pain, as everyone in zone A uses it to store clothes. I reckon 3F is great if you don't mind no window. 5B or 5J have the window over the bassinet/box thingy. 3E/F have a cupboard in front of the seat. I'll try row 5 next time just to compare.

One thing for sure, if I have to travel in J on a 747, I'd prefer a refurb aircraft!

Just returned from a trip on QF15 Brisbane to LA. Was expecting the newer Mk 11 seats in business. I'm confused.... the plane was reconfigured, seat 4A in Zone A. However, these seats were the older non flat seats. Was is an "older reconfiguration"? Thanks for any info.

.......... sounds like you were on a 3class (56J/40W/275Y) which is a pre skybed MKII 'reconfiguration'.. sorry i cant attatch the seat map on here..but you can find it on QF.com seat plans 747-400(Longreach)

Flight out was 28th March. Very underwhelmed by the whole experience. One flight attendant was very condescending and I felt she had been in the job for far too long.

Agree with Canny man, I have travelled 3F, get bumped alot and seems like you are half way out into the aisle. Allure of direct aisle access and no one climbing over was attractive, but will stick to the top deck on this config.

Travelled in 3K to DFW last week. I agree that the front cabin is the place to be - it has a private and spacious feel. With the new seats, climbing over your neighbour (or being climbed over) is not so much of a concern as the old layout. I think the removal of lavs is definitely a downside, though. Although I never had to wait too long, I noticed a couple of pax getting upset towards the end of the flight when lots of folks wanted to get changed at once.

Thanks
We were in a red mood lighting moment at the time.
Also note the width of the aisle vs the cupboard door in row 1.
A dream for 4 flying together, but otherwise a bit cramped.

Even over 5B/5J or the upper deck?

Anybody have pics of the single seats in 5 yet?

Are there any Toilets in the upper deck as I cant see them on the layout?

Got to select a seat on a 3 class for next month. After disliking 3e, I am tempted by row 5. Has anyone tried upstairs though? I was quite happy in row 16 on the old configuration.
