Apparently, Jetstar believes that QFF points/status and lounge access are so worthless to the point that they are giving you $150 SGD just to make you take them...

The screen can still be reproduced by searching one-way SIN-MEL on 28 May. Haven't tried to proceed any further though.

I think I know what's going on here, JQ usually has a set price of $948SGD one way from SIN-MEL including the Business Max fare, so that's why when there is a business class sale, the max fare bundle always gets larger to make sure that the $948 is always met. It'd be a function built into the website where it would automatically make adjustmenst to the price of the max bundle depending on the original business fare is.

I reckon this is an error with the original fare, so therefore when the website sees that the original fare isn't $948, it makes an adjustment to the max bundle to bring the price back in line with the set price.

That's just a theory.

The way I think it happens is that Business and Business Max are actually two different fares, and the 'bundle' is simply the difference between the Business fare offered, and the lowest available Business Max. When Business is on special, the difference naturally becomes larger.

In this case, I think it's just that the lowest Business Max fare is less than the lowest Business fare. While perhaps not unusual, you do sometimes see things like this on other airlines (e.g. Qantas often has 'sale' fares at a higher price than 'red-e'deal')

This happened the other day when I searched return MEL-SIN.

It showed $699 for MEL-SIN plus $200 for the Max bundle, so total $899. Coming back there were no sale fares left, so the fare was $999, but then the Max bundle was -$100, bringing it to $899 total, which matched the fare going over.

Ended up going on QF - scored an exit with middle seat blocked going over, and upgrade to J on the way back, so much better than JQ anyway!
