Hello All,

I have been a QQF silver member for the last 4 years and think 2010 maybe the year I see gold.... hopefully with the help of you nice folk.

Here is the deal:
I need 440 SC points before Dec 2010 and work will only allow Economy.

In Feb & March I need to fly
SYD to [DXB or AUH]
[DXB or AUH] to BOM
BOM to [FRA or NRW]
[FRA or NRW] to SYD

In June I will fly to
SYD to FRA
FRA to SYD

Im looking at booking Ethidad as a start to AUH but not sure if I will earn any SC points and if so, anyone know how many?

Im so lost when trying to maximise SC so thanks to those taking the time to explain the best options :D

Great forum BTW !!

Welcome to AFF Puffy!

Etihad is not a QFF program partner, so you wont earn QF SC’s flying Etihad. QFF program partners can be found here.

Also, will you be booking discount economy or full economy, as there is a difference in earning?

Thanks samh004 for the info.
Bummer about no SC points on Ethidad.

I thought of "Full Economy" as Premium Economy.

Discount Economy was Sale / Red e-Deal / Super Saver / Flexi Saver
Every time I click on fare types it says
"Classed as Discount Economy when Status Credits are earned on this fare."

I saw there is a difference in SC earnings (double) but not sure what makes a flight full economy.
If my understanding of the above is correct then it looks like discount economy for me :(

Premium economy does give full economy SC’s, and 10% bonus points, but I’m sure there are a few economy classes that are full economy too, another member might be able to highlight what these would be booked under.

Would recommend SYD-HKG-AUH/DXB or SYD-SIN-HKG-AUG to maximise SCs all on CX or QF and CX.

CX currently have a sale for Y travel to Middle east (but discount SCs apply only).

Jet Airways (India) fly AUH or DXB-BOM, again you could stick with CX and route thru HKG to max SCs.

Essentially hub these flight through HKG so

SYD-HKG-AUH,DXB-HKG-BOM-HKG-LHR-FRA-LHR-HKG-SYD.

You can add SIN in between SYD and HKG to add more SCs.

Qantas codeshare with Etihad on flights to Abu Dhabi.
Just a quick look shows February return flights at around $1900.
I am not an expert on codeshare but as the flight has a Qantas flight number I wonder if you get SC? Others more expert than me may be able to advise.

But you need to book those flights through QF, not through Etihad. Right?

For your later SYD-FRA trip make sure you different flights for each leg to get an extra 10 SC in each direction. Don't use QF 5/6 all the way.

Smart planning and flight routing sounds like the key.
