Welcome to AFF Annstan77!

Your best option if wanting lounge access would be to look into Priority Pass.

I'll give you 10/10 for effort, but I doubt you'll find too many members on here willing to part with Comp. QP passes to someone whose only contribution (and possibly the only contribution) to the forum is to try and get QP passes from others.

Good luck though, hopefully someone can comp. you in.

TG

Just try your hand at negotiating at the lounge entrance.

Also, consider that for the price of paying for lounge access, a family of 4 can live very comfortably spending that money outside of the lounge and forgoing he lounge amenities.

Thanks everybody for your help.....

We are going to try and ask if we can both get in with 10 month old baby, have also registered flight details on the link provided.

We used the Brisbane lounge and Singapore lounge on the flight over. Brisbane was good. But Singapore was very lacking.....! Only good thing was the shower.... but even then by time we had dressed our daughter you were sweating again as it was so hot in the shower room! Singapore had very limited food which never seemed to be replaced and had to keep asking to replace the drinks.

Hopefully the heathrow one will be good, I hear it is?

I just like the quiteness of the lounge, try to relax before a long flight with an active toddler! :p

Which lounge did you use in Singapore. I have always found the drinks (self-serve) to be plentiful and the food also plentiful and suiting my tastes. Yes the showers do get hot, but I get my pants on and then crack the door. Expect the attendant to show up quickly but they are happy to let you finish getting ready (brushing hair, cleaning teeth, putting shoes on, etc.)

As for lunge experiences I rate use of the lounge at my transit point to be the best/most valuable time for lounge access. Basically, having that known place to get to and having the chance to relax a bit before getting back on the plane is great. Using a lounge before departing is not so important for me as there is usually just as good things outside in the terminal. But I've only travelled with a 6 and 3 year old.

Ohh and the infant should get in free, being under 3 years (or 4 whatever the cut off is)

No offence, but beggers can't be choosers.

If you want to be guaranteed access, join the club or gain status, i'd have though any lounge was better than no lounge at all.

I agree with Medhead's comments though that i've never had a problem with SIN QP, and I too rate the transit access as the most valuable to me...nothing like a shower whilst in transit to make the journey more comfortable.

Not exactly begging.............! Sharing an opinion and for the service that was offered at Singapore I wish we had stayed outside the lounge and used the transit hotel and had a better time....

We used the QANTAS lounge at Singapore we got there about 11pm and the only food they bought out for the whole 3 hours we where there, was pizza with a slice of tomato on it, when it was bought out everyone dived for it and it was gone... they were very slow to replace it and the champagne, wine etc.

Have also used the KL, Hong Kong and Beijing lounges all were good, but I think I got food poisioning from the Hong Kong one! Not fun on a flight to London, but thankfully the flight was literally empty and had a whole middle row to myself so could sleep the whole way.

Well that's an ambitious first post - hoping that a London-based member has a pass (or three!!!) to be given away in the next 3 days!!
No offence, but beggers can't be choosers.
The chances of getting 1, 2 or 3 passes on a first post are close to zero. Some AFF'ers, including me, have given out passes, but only to people with a history on the forum. The one spare pass I have will be given to an AFFer more deserving.

I'm not suggesting you're begging as such, it's just a phrase that comes to mind.

What I am suggesting however is that perhaps you yourself are contributing somewhat to what you perceive to be a lack of reasonable food and drink.

It's all good and well to ask someone to comp you into the lounges on your trip, but someone's got to pay for those facilities and it's those who purchase Qantas Club membership and those of us who generate large amounts of revenue and therefore hold status with the airline that are doing so, and if you were willing to purchase lounge membership rather than expect others who are financial members of the lounge to comp you in, they may be botj more willing as well as able to provide more substantial offerings on the food side of things.

Just my thoughts for a Monday morning.

Enjoy your flight.

Totally OT (sorry OP)
can you have a look at http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/com...trip-report-its-infancy-18799.html#post254847 and let me know your thoughts!

Mr!

Travel Guru, I am not quite sure what you are saying............ Complimentary passes are given to paying members surely to be given to friends and family so A. they can try the lounge and B. if they like it, generate business and perhaps buy a membership?

I do not see how you can begrudge someone using a comp. pass when that is the intended use of the pass.........?

The lack of food and drink that was a fact.... if you think this is because to many comp passes are being given out, maybe you should take this up with QANTAS?

Due to my previous point, you would expect the service to be of a high standard at all times, to not only please 'paying' customers, but to also entice new ones?

We used the Singapore lounge on the way home with only one pass, the girl at the desk let us in no problem. It was during the day this time and was very quiet and I must say the service and food was a lot better.

I am a QANTAS frequent flyer member, but as I don't always fly QANTAS I have never thought the QANTAS lounge membership was good value and thankfully I have generous friends and family that give me passes (unlike some of the people on here it would seem) or I pay for the other lounges that you can attend at many of the airports (for about $50 US usually).

I have been to over 50 plus countries, and we take at least 20 flights a year. I would class my self as a frequent flyer...... I am howver not an elitist....

I do not fly QANTAS all the time as they are not always competitive, and considering they lost our luggage on this trip will be thinking twice of flying with them again.

I think some people on here take 'their status' a little to serious perhaps??

Just because you fly a lot with one airline doesn't make you above anyone else who flys with them, no matter if you think it does!!!!!!!!

Hi Annstan77, I take your points well.

I am glad you were able to both enter the Singapore lounge.

The main issue with your post was - 1st post and asking for something.

As for the passes, they are scarce in this community. Very few regular posters have Qantas status such that they actually receive these passes.

Please read the majority of the posts on this thread, they provided reasonable advise/explanation.

I really did not see any post in reply to yours indicating aloofness or perceived superiority.

My general experience with the people of this forum are that most regular members are very egalitarian - a love of travel/flying being the common theme, i and they share this with you.

In fact, any contribution you can make to this forum would be appreciated given your travel experience. I have much to lean and would happily assimilate any advice you have.

I look forward to your continued contribution/participation to/with this forum.

Cheers ...

Well said Serfty.
And Annstan77, I hope you do become a contributor here - and that you can keep your posts friendly.

Gee my profuse apologies for saving my hard won passes for my friends and family.

Obviously I should be ashamed of doing that rather than giving them to you a complete stranger. Shame on me evidently.

I have no problems with your OP. If one does not ask, one cannot get... etc etc and who knows someone may have had some about to expire etc etc..

But it is bit rich calling forumite's un-generous for not giving you THREE free passes.

And by the way even though they are called "free", they do have a value.

Friends and family would be the key here. With status we do not get an unlimited supply of complimentary passes to hand out to anyone. I get 2 complimentary passes a year from my Qantas Premium credit card and I am not about to give them away to the first person who asked.

I think you are mistaken. I would more than gladly guest you into a Qantas Lounge if our paths crossed in some airport....
