Nearly 6hr layover in Hong Kong. Enough Time

OK- so arrived in HK this morning at 4:30AM local time. 30mins early.

The GF really didnt want to leave the airport but I told her I was going to go without her, and she ended up coming. :p

Jumped a cab, got him to take us for a nice view of HK island, then we went to a 24hr restaurant strip.

Very authentic HK place. Away from the sanitation of the airport.

Ate at about 5:30AM with a very interesting group of locals. Mixed bag, from party animals that had been awake all night, to guys that looked a bit over it all.

Stayed there for a while, then to make sure my GF didnt stress out too much, just jumped a cab back to the aiport.

Sitting in the Wings lounge now with still 90mins to departure and wish I stayed in town longer!

Thanks for all the tips, here's some photos of the adventure this morning.

Aaah, this looks good! Stuff open.

Hi all

Just found this thread and I find that I am in a similar situation in November.
I will be flying from MNL to HKG on CX900, arriving at HKG at 14:35, and my next flight will be QF128, departing at 20:00.
Am flying Y on CX and Premium Economy on QF, so I wont have lounge access (I an NB without QP access.
I do have Priority Pass membership though (part of the Amex Platinum Reserve CC) so I could use a Priority Pass lounge for the 5 1/2 hour layover. (I think all alcohol is on a pay-as-you-consume basis which is disappointing though)

Or should I head into the city for a walk around? I have been to Hong Kong before so I am familiar with the train system etc.

All thoughts and suggestions are most welcome.

Many thanks

I would go to town. (literally)

23 min to central via MTR makes it almost a no brainer IMHO.

United RCC at HKG is now in Priority Pass also and has free booze I believe.

The Travelers Lounges at HKG have complimentary beer and an ok noodle bar.

Hi guys,

I fly into Hong Kong at 5:45AM on a CX flight from Sydney.

My connecting flight to Toronto is at 10:45AM. On CX again. J-Class

What do people think about leaving the airport? Do I have time? Would it be worth it at that time in the morning? How long could it take me to get out of there?

I'm a 1st timer to Hong Kong airport so I'm not really sure.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Can I ask how the HK to Toronto flight was? I assume it goes over the pole??

Thinking of doing this route in preference to flying via LAX

Thanks

So we want a blow by blow description. Arrived on-time to start?

Wouldn't consider any other option - a true AFF'er :D

Wouldn't a true AFFer fly HKG-NRT-DFW-JFK-Toronto? Or even HKG-NRT-LHR-,LGW-BGI-JFK-Toronto?
