NAB Qantas Signature 115k QF points for $395 AF - Pointhacks exclusive

While I get any NAB cards for free, I don't get the whole 'too expensive' line.

Massive bonus points from fee free cards just are not anywhere near as common after the RBA changes, expecting & relying on these cards to be readily on offer nowadays will limit your churning opportunities.

You have too put a price on what you're willing to pay for points, if that's NIL then fine, you'll be trading accumulation time for actual cash - but for me 115,000 QFF points for $400 @ 0.35c per point is a great deal IMO.

As the DR has pointed out above, accumulating a J OWE 280,000 QFF points for ~$600 in fee's - it's a whole lot cheaper then looking to purchase it outright for $12,000+.

Expensive is usually judged relative to other offers currently or recently available out there and this one isn’t that great by comparison.

But for NAB to pay point hacks through their affiliate deal they have to generate some margin somewhere!

Conditionally approved. Plan to put rent on it to meet the $4k requirement, then cancel so I don't get hit with the full $395 fee.

You mean they'll still hit me with the full fee? I had a NAB card a few years back and from memory they pro rated the annual fee when I cancelled.

They will most definitely charge you the full fee, and while I very highly doubt it you could be extremely lucky and they pro-rata the fee - but under the new regulatory environment I really do not see that happening.

This is what has been occurring over the past few months, or at least since they introduced the 12 month exclusion period. You may get lucky but don't expect it.

Interesting. Will wait and see. Regardless I don't mind paying the annual fee for 115k points.

What are people's views on whether or not BPay payments count towards the 115k bonus points? Two agents, five minutes apart, gave me two different answers.

We cancelled our NAB cards late last year where the AF was charged before the points were awarded. There's basically no escape...

Although I usually tend to assume that BPay transactions DON’T count as eligible transactions, the Ts&Cs for this offer include a definition of Purchases as follows:

“(a) charged by the supplier for the supply of any goods or services purchased by the use of a card (including a BPAY transaction and a contactless purchase), including each such amount converted in accordance with 11.3, except for amounts which are cash advances; or”. (My Bolding)

So, in the absence of some other disqualifying wording lurking somewhere else in the Ts&Cs, it looks like the answer is “Yes, they do count”.

Thanks for that.

The third and fourth agents I spoke with were able to confirm BPay payments count and the fourth added a note to my account. Then I find out the merchant doesn't accept credit card via BPay. That only leaves Post Billpay. Another call to NAB - just to be sure - and the agent confirmed it without having to check and again made a note.

I notice this offer lasts until 17th June. This is handy because my 1 year anniversary of the Qantas Premier Mastercard comes up in July and I dont want to pay the 2nd year fee of $295.
So, I plan apply for the NAB card in early June and if successful close down the Q Premier.

Beasley even though your cancelling the Qantas Premier card I am curious if they will offer to waive the fee for the next year?

Im not greatly concerned if they offer to waive the fee because I tend to churn cards to attain the points bonus which comes with them. The Qantas card does offer unlimited spend at 1 point per dollar ........... but the opportunity to get 115,000 points out weighs this.

I understand that. It is more for a data point for myself :)
