NAB Qantas Premium 75k bonus

Ok thanks for the info folks. Might drop this one and apply for the ANZ 75k promo, then come back to the NAB if the offer is still available.

May be time for my third round, how many have done 4 or more?

The most I have done with any card was with an ANZ card a number of years back where my wife and I joined up three times straight at 37.5K per pop. Each time it was free, and points were awarded virtually straight away. From memory it was about 6 weeks each time that we had the cards. Then they wised up and changed the terms so that I could not get it again as quick.

ANZ over a year back allowed you apply and get the 3 levels of its card at 50K per pop free as well as it treated all 3 as separate accounts. Applications were all done quickly and so held all 3 cards at once.

Still one of the best offerings going around. Got back on for another go.

Offer now extended until March 31, 2017.

SMS yesterday to say my application had been approved and cards were on there way.

Logged into my online banking and can see the new card details sitting there right alongside the details of the old card I cancelled sometime ago.

Woohoo! My first big lot of bonus FF points! The 75k came through yesterday to add on to the couple K i had just from everyday spend. Now I can actually see what I can use them for on the Qantas site.
I wasn't actually expecting them just yet. I knew I'd done the spending but thought I had to have the card paid off before the points came.
Ill take it though. Now to build on it :)

Have you been charged the annual fee? When did you open the account?

Cancelled the card today. Didn't ask me much (I see you didn't use it much, was it for points?)..

I mentioned I used it for a large purchase.

Didn't want to keep my business.

Possible to ring back tomorrow asking about a pro rata fee refund?

Had the card less then 3 months.

:( If they hadn't charged it yet, then you would know what to do ;)

Yea will drop mine asap. Just got for xmas spending if they ask lol

Although I might have to keep it longer to book some domestic flights on Sunday. Was hoping to use my new AMEX Ultimate to make my Q spend but have still not got an answer 2 weeks after applying. Grrr.

I applied over the weekend. Long term NAB customer. Was approved then message saying I had to supply income statements etc. I decided it was a pain so was going to ignore it and move on. Today I received a text saying I was approved and card on its way. Looked at internet banking and have been approved for $30k. Yowsers. I was just going to spend $1,500 on it.....

Update: rang earlier today asking for a refund.

I ended up saying yes to it being re-open, with a refund included. Didn't even get transferred to retention.

So they refunded the $250 from your recently closed account, and then opened a new card account for you for free?

What was your reason for refund?

Cancel and re-apply?

I have an NAB Visa card and want to apply for this card for the 75,000 bonus points. I should still receive the bonus points even though I am an existing customer?

I didn't really give a reason, yesterday during cancellation I was asked was I only after the points; due to low spending (not used everyday? Only paid less then 10 bills?). I actually spent over 15k in the 3 months of it open.

I just replied, that I might not have used it much, but spent heaps. Then it was instantly cancelled.

To answer your question.

Yes: canceled one day, opened with refund the next.

with regards to the points earning, do you know if council rates, land tax and utilities bills would earn points? the T&C states that government charges and ATO payments do not earn points but i am uncertain if land tax, council rates etc fall under ATO / government charges

Download the aus post app and see if you can postbillpay it (scan the barcode).

If it lets you pay it with the app - you can use PayPal and then it's no problem at all. That's what I've done with my council rates to ensure qualifying spend and at full earn rate.

I convinced my brother to apply for this card on the weekend using the link on the first post here. He told me this afternoon he'd received a Qantas Rewards card with a limit of $4000 instead of the Premium Card :( I'm guessing this won't earn any points (I've suggested he ring up to discuss!) Bit of a blow that they just provide the lower card - I think a knock back would have been preferable in his situation!
