NAB Qantas Premium 75k bonus

Sonny if this is a bit off topic. Due to constant hacking of my NAB Virgin Platinum card, I had to cancel it. I had very inconsistent and confusing information and "help" from NAB. They only partly refunded the fraudulent charges. No more NAB cards for me. I"m using an eftpos card until i get around to changing banks.

I applied for this card in early January and after spending the required amount it was noted on the statement that I had accrued the 75,000 points. Had a gut feeling something wasn't right so rang the NAB call centre to find my QFF number wasn't on file, despite including that with my application initially. The call centre operator commented along the lines of "it is lucky you contacted us now as your points may have been lost", which I thought was odd. He then said the points could take up to 3 billing cycles to transfer to my QFF account which I wasn't impressed with. 2 days later and they were in.

Moral of the story was- if in doubt call up and check.

cheers

I applied for this card in the last days of the most recent promotion, and received my card a week ago. I have a 7-digit Qantas FF number (which I provided in the application), and after reading this thread I'd better get on the front foot to get my 75,000 points ASAP. Following PaulST's lead, I pre-emptively sent NAB a message through online banking to make sure they had my Qantas FF number on file and got the following response:

"Hi 2tall4Y,

Thanks for writing to us with your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership
details.

I'd like to let you know that I've today linked your Qantas membership
number xx_xx_X to your credit card account 430330xx_xx_xx_X.

Now that your membership details have been added on file, points will be
transferred to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account on a monthly basis,
approximately two business days after your statement has been issued; your
statement will show you how many points you've earned over the statement
period.

To find out the balance of your Frequent Flyer points or make a redemption,
please contact Qantas directly via telephone on 13 11 31 from 8am-7pm
Mon-Fri, or by visiting the following link:

http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/program/welcome

If there's anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

Thanks,

xx_xx_

So another data point to suggest that you will need to contact NAB in case you have a shorter (<10 digits) Qantas FF number. Using the online messaging functionality is a rather painless way to do this in my experience.

Data point.

I cancelled my NAB Qantas plat rewards card on 24/3/17.
Approved for a new NAB Qantas plat rewards card on 28/3/17.
Min spend made within 2 weeks.
75K signup bonus + the usual points from spending arrived today. :)

The annual fee snuck onto the first statement. :)
Ah well, well worth the 75,000 points and it's still my highest earning Amex card at Woolies and most of my bills. That will change, though, when Amex change their points earning next year and (ironically enough) I'll end up using my Amex QF Ultimate card a whole lot more (currently now just QF and cafes/restaurants.)

In my experience, the annual fee is charged in the first statement (which is the earliest I've ever received my bonus points*.)

For interest's sake, Amex and NAB seem to send you the bonus points at the end of first statement period (which is usually my first statement with the card) whilst Citibank, HSBC and ANZ took several months.

how are you guys getting your bonus points so quickly ? I am still waiting for mine to hit the QFF account. I got the spending points but not bonus. would it come in the next statement? I havent been hit with the annual fee yet either.

Thanks TRUSTY. Had to call up as everyone else as QFF did not stick to application. I made the required spend within 1 day of receiving the card. Received my first statement and no indication of 75K points accrued. Normal QFF points for purchases came through but no bonus yet. Interesting that PaulST's came through fairly quickly. Could it be due to 2nd round and QFF number stuck to account?

I suspect NAB might to catching on to the fact that their customers are cancelling after bonus points posted but prior to annual fee being charged. Doing this card second time around and bonus points not posting on first statement like last time.

As per my post upthread, I contacted NAB through online messaging to ensure they had my QFF number on file (they didn't). First statement processed a few days after that, and despite the regular spending points posting, no bonus points came through (minimum spend met shortly after activation).

Same as Omarko Man, no annual fee has been charged yet.

Maybe the banks are catching on? I fear that the increasing number of 'points websites' have caught their attention?

For references sake, the details of my second card are as follows.
First purchase: April 3rd
Met the required spend on April 7th
Annual fee charged on April 11th
First statement released on April 11th
Signup bonus AND regular spend points appeared on QF on April 13th (78,000ish points)
Due to be paid next Friday (April 28th)

I do recall the bonus point for my last card posted in the 3rd statement even though spend was made within the first few weeks of activation. Annual fee got charged in the 1st statement. Still too early to panic me think.

Meanwhile I am still waiting for them to bring out a bonus points promotion, hoping to get one more in before the interchange fees kicks in and they remove these types of bonuses

It would appear they may be concentrating on sign ups to NAB Rewards rather than Qantas.
Past history would have seen an extension of the Qantas bonus almost immediately at previous expiry

I was thinking the same thing. I'm keen to hit 420,000 points soon so I can (attempt to) book a OW 35K F trip.
Unfortunately I was knocked back from a Westpac Black last night. It's unfortunate that they never give you reasons. I might apply for the HSBC card next month (as it'll be 12 months since I cancelled my last hsbc card.)

My 75,000 bonus points posted the day after I paid the balance on my first statement (almost exactly two weeks after said statement processed and the regular spending points posted) - the cynic in me thinks the timing right after payment is not a coincidence

Annual fee still hasn't been charged, so the plan is to pay off the balance tomorrow and cancel the card on Tuesday.

Bonus points posted yesterday, a week after the statement cycle transfer of my 1st statement.

do the bonus points appear only at statement cycles or outside as well?

Same as Omarko Man, no annual fee has been charged yet.
