...and they weren't good ones.
I recently had to go to the Gold Coast for the university games. Seeing that Qantas doesn't fly there (*sigh*), I decided to go MEL->SYD->OOL with Virgin Australia, and OOL->MEL on the way back with Jetstar.
On the way up, the MEL->SYD leg went quite well. I had the flexi fare, which meant I got food for free (a wrap, which was quite nice, and a bar of chocolate), and free on-board Foxtel. When i landed in SYD that's when the bad luck kicked in. My leg to OOL got cancelled because of a lightning strike . So I was stuck in SYD for three hours before the next OOL flight with nothing to do (and before anyone asks, I'm a Bronze QFF and a Red Velocity, so going to the lounges were out of the question). At least Virgin paid for my lunch when I was at the airport.
On the way back to Melbourne, my flight was delayed three hours. Instead of arriving in MEL at around 9pm, I got there around midnight. They did send me a text message about the delay though, which meant I got to spend more time in the pub watching the grand final (even though Collingwood lost).
It's probably not the worst bad luck flying story out there, but it's a good story for my first post
