Hi guys. I am visiting some friends in Australia, and booked my flight with Emirates.

My flight details (Oslo to/from is not posted, as I am flying with SAS for the first leg):

EK420

Economy
Airbus A340-500

Perth - Dubai - Oslo:

EK421
Depart Thu 11 Dec 08 23:30 Perth International Airport (PER) INTERNATIONAL
Arrive Fri 12 Dec 08 05:45 Dubai International Airport (DXB) 3
Economy
Boeing 777-300ER

EK001
Depart Mon 15 Dec 08 07:45 Dubai International Airport (DXB) 3
Arrive Mon 15 Dec 08 11:35 London Heathrow Airport (LHR) 3
Economy
Airbus A380

My Questions:

1. I am going to check in online. I have seen on seatguru and they list 2 777-300 ER aircraft. One is a 2-class configuration and the other is a 3-class configuration. Is there anyway I can know in advance, before the 24-hour limit what aircraft I am going to fly so I know in which order to pick my preferred seat?

2. How is the availability if I check in once the 24-hour limit has started? Are some seats reserved by the airline before check in is available to the public, or is it on a first come, first serv basis? Any tips on how get this done as quickly as possible?

3. Is it possible to pay extra at the check in counter to get a upgraded seat at a cheaper price than what is listed now (for Business) if there are available seats?

4. Do you guys have any suggestion to other good seats on the flights I am flying (except for the green seats on seatguru)?

Any other suggestions are more than welcome!

Thanks for taking your time to read and hopefully reply to my questions :)

All the best,
Vilhelm

EK002 on 22 Nov is showing as a 77W which is a 3-class configuration.

EF421 on 11 Dec is showing as a A345 and not a 777. The A345 is a 3-class config.
