Most trashed loyalty program

Reminiscing as I shredded my old escape club Mk 2 card. Can anyone come up with a more trashed brand?

I think I would nominate Country Comfort-Constellation-Silverneedle-Next as surely the first prize getters for trashing their loyalty program (and customers' and hotels' loyalty alike)

I joined Country Comfort Kookaburra Club back in about 1989. Earned some pointa and they were binned when it was replaced by Escape Club Mark 1. IIRC that one later phoenixed in the early 2000s as Constellation Hotels' Escape Club Mark 2, which I joined in 2003. Now some years later there is a sad little message on the next variant (I think - I'd ceased to bother with these hokey programs) which was silverneedle select.

Now a sad little message about points again being binned on the former snselect site, with a promise of yet another wonderful benefits selection sometime... meanwhile not very surprisingly there aren't many Country Comforts left, and even fewer Chifleys :rolleyes:

Anyone think of worse?

I redeemed 67K miles KUL-HKG return in Y for 4 pax on Enrich last week.

I think the worst program is one which you let points expire. It's proof of disengagement and therefore an ineffective program.

Fair comment as I never used Enrich as a loyalty programme, rather a redemption vehicle.
Unfortunately it now seems inpenetrable to a non-engaged member. There may well be value but I don't know where or how to look

To be fair, the value is there if you have certain redemptions in mind; or if you have reasonable spending power (cards) in Malaysia.
Despite having the same interchange rates as Australia, Malaysian banks are able to reward cardholders at 3x the rate of miles earning of most Australian banks. Qantas/Virgin would be better programs if the banks weren't blindly ripping off cardholders.

Enrich also recently had a 37,000 miles redemption SYD-KUL in biz. The same flight was EARNING 20,000 miles one-way.

While Enrich certainly has it's flaws - the pockets of opportunity are unbeatable by the Australian programs.

When you give the power back to the people - the people trust you, and spend more with your brand.

I was at one point in Escape Club - Constellation Hotels rings a bell - probably due to the Chifleys. Hadn't really been paying much attention to what happened with them!
