Have a (locked to telstra) mobile modem.

Looking for "best value" mobile solution (prepaid or contract is fine although leaning towards prepaid). Dont need tons and tons of data but more the capacity to do basic internet browsing, email etc on tablet / couple of iphones etc.

Any tips or recommendations?

Any better options to abn's versus retail?

Not averse to Optus (fair coverage although not perfect) but prefer not vodafone (coverage remains a problem in my travel locations). So telstra options preferred due to better coverage but optus ok (but will mean greater upfront cost or contract to pay for new modem).

TIA.

Have a look at the amaysim website for pre paid.
amaysim use Optus 4G where 4G is available.
Obviously won't work with a Telstra locked modem but the modem should be able to be unlocked for about $10 from a reputable unlocker which I can't/won't mention here.

Mine is on a Biz essentials plan, $90 per month all calls, SMS's and 5gb data included. BYOD and you get $20 per month discount making it $70 per month. Need ABN, and not sure how many mobiles on same account.

Have just visited a telstra shop to enquire on their offers (was walking past by chance!).

Seems the best may option done directly with telstra may be to upgrade the personal mobile (+$11/month) and get an extra 1.5GB data (up from 1GB to 2.5GB), with similar / slightly greater number of call minutes (factoring price per minute change) and free australian SMS/MMS, and add another data pack for other devices (2.5GB for $15 monthly). Over-use @ $10/GB or part thereof.

Amasim requires new or unlocked modem and would give 2.5BG for $19 so similar price overall (but on less preferred optus network). Overuse at 7.2c/MB (which unless i have a maths fail - and it is friday - is $72/GB!)
