No, but I received a confirmation email stating "Thank you for your buyAAmiles® purchase. You will be notified when your American Airlines AAdvantage® miles have been credited to your account. Your purchase is summarized below".

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

This is not a bonus mile deal; it's, say, US$300 off the $1000 purchase price of 40K AAdvantage miles.

You buy, your CC will be charged, the points credit and that will be the end of it.

Good point serfty. I'm so used to the bonus promo structure. So the full allotment of points have posted and your CC issues with amount minus 30% discount?

I've already got 2 AA aacounts (Shhh!) but am really tempted to create another two accounts and purchase 35,000 miles just for two return intra SWP trips for ~ $700 each.

Problem is if you want to travel in something other than economy an business award to Europe is 60k points, so to get a return really need an offer that gives more points (ideally 60k for two years running) than a discounted 40k point offer...
Good point. It does take a while to purchase the required miles due to the yearly limits.

Just an idea though (and not sure if it would work) that it is possible to book one-way awards and I believe it is possible to redeem awards for family members. Purchase 60,000 miles as was offered recently in one account and book a one-way business class flight and then purchase 60,000 miles in the other account and book the return business class flight.

This would work well for me with parents and a brother that do not fly but would be difficult for families that want to travel together.

With BNE - PER return at 20,000 miles (vs 36,000 with QF), or 20,000 miles Aus - NZ return, we're happy with simply enough miles to take one of these in. At present forex rates and with 30% discount, 20,000 miles are a bargain price.

It took just 12 hours for a friend of mine who purchased yesterday and found this morning the miles credited. The discount is applied at the purhcase page, so your credit card is only deducted the discounted price.

You should think twice about this. AA has an audit of accounts to pick up anyone breaking the rules. There are plenty of threads on FT where there are tears, wailing and gnashing of teeth when their account(s) are locked!

How do you get Business Saver and First Saver awards? The award chart only mentions normal business and first awards and it is 60,000 miles in business and 80,000 miles in First.

Any business saver awards available to Asia?

You're setting yourself up for a very difficult situation. As others have stated, AA audits account details, including addresses and even credit cards to look for FF's breaking their rules. I believe that miles transferred between accounts are manually actioned, but I could be wrong. In extreme circumstances not only have they frozen the accounts permanently, they have sued individual pax for lost revenue.

I discovered that I had an old account, with zero miles from 10+ years ago, and to avoid any issues I called AA and told them that I forgot I had an account. They promptly closed it.

It is found in the AA award chart on aa.com.
Certainly more availability for elite Aadvantage members. We are flying on F saver awards JFK-NRT in June.If I looked as an AA plat was available every day in May,June. But looking with mrs.dr.ron's number who has no AA status now there were many gaps.

The 30% promotion actually is more attractive on a cents per mile basis than the last cpl of promotions.

Now just hoping that there is another that lifts the 40,000 per year maximum :)

Ahhh, but Drron that 50k (J) and 62.5k (F) award flight is for US to Europe (or US flying AA to a range of destinations) isn't it flying AA, they don't have any saver flights rom Aust-US (vv) or Eur-Aust (vv) do they from what i see?? All those type of flights would be on the partner award chart which is 60k (J) and 80k (F)...

However i do have a 5 year old son so if you can buy miles in a family members name and then use them to purchase flights for another family member (namely me), i think it might be high time he joined AA... :)

To Europe it is now on AA,BA and IB(J only) due to the tie up.To Japan now AA or JAL.Ours is on AA and cost the 62500 in F.
The only problem is buying in another's name is it costs to transfer miles so they need enough to get you the Award.
But from Australia it is definitely no saver awards.

so AA's arrangement isn't like QF where i can have the points in my account and book an award flight for a family member without having to transfer the points to them first... In AA's scheme you have to transfer or book only for yourself?

Which throws my other theory out the window. It is not very attractive to first purchase the miles and then having to pay to transfer the miles to another account.

Isn't there any way to book flights for family members from the one account without transferring miles between accounts?

Mrs.dr.ron's awards are now always booked with points from my Aadvantage account-no need to transfer.
However it certainly is one area where QFF has it over Aadvantage with free transfer of up to 100000 points per 12 months.

Yes, actually SWMBO has an award flight booked from my father's AA account. Only restriction was it had to be his CC paying the fees.

This is certainly incorrect.

AAwards can be booked by the member for anyone. Moreover, there are no 'family' type restrictions as for QFF.

What drron was indicating is that you need enough miles in the one account to book the AAward for the other party.

It is not easy trying to piece all the dots together.

So can my father/mother purchase miles in their account with my credit card and then with those miles book an award flight for me using my credit card?

I really do not understand the restriction mentioned above that the credit card needs to be in the name of the account holder. Some people do not have credit cards....
