So as I had a Qantas based reward flight on May 31 I assume that it can only be changed to another date if there is a F award seat on QFF rewards from HND-DXB-AMS? Which basically means never?

So choices are to take the risk on that date or cancel?

You’re governed by the emirates rebooking policy.

At the moment, theyre offering a refund or a free date change up to June 15, for tickets with a departure date to 31 May. Emirates | Fly Better

That 15 June date might move out in the coming weeks, allowing you to rebook for later.

You still have to contact qantas as the agent to make the change, but QF will follow the EK policy.

Got 3 emails from seats.aero today notifying reward seats from BNE-LHR on EK in May. Presumably they are starting up from BNE again?

That sounds too generous to be true, and even if Emirates applied that policy I doubt QF would follow it. Sorry to be cynical, but I cannot vouch for the kindness or leniency of QF.

Qantas is not operating the flights. Qantas has ‘sold’ you those seats as the AGENT of Emirates.

You are governed by the emirates conditions and contract of carriage.

Qantas doesn’t have a choice in the matter. If EK’s rebooking policy is ‘x’, as agent, Qantas has to follow that.

QF has consistently applied its own rebooking and commercial policies in times or emergency or natural disaster. Even rebooking award seats into revenue classes.

Okay. So it means I can actually consider delaying my flight into June, which changes things to say the least. I will monitor the situations and plan accordingly.

You should be fully across all your options, and where those options arise. If you are going to call qantas for a date change for exapmle, make sure you have the relevant emirates policy in front of you you.

Note that while the booking window is currently 15 June, that could be brought forward if EK resumes its schedules.

A year or so out would probably be okay.
