Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

And the full story about the “backchannel” deal between the UAE and Iran is that, allegedly, the UAE has promised to suspend offensive operations against Iran for 48 hours in return for Iran not attacking its civil aviation infrastructure or these repatriation flights.

Sounds believable to me, but indicates this is a small window to get people out before it will close down again.
Simply unsupported gossip. We have seen countless unsupported untrue news stories go to air the past 2 yrs. Only recently Al Jazerra has admitted paying foreign news outlets to run fabricated news. Why would any nation make a deal where the other party is not in complete command of it's troops.?

I'm not aware that the UAE, or any arab state, is undertaking any offensive operations against Iran. So I don't know what Iran wants or could get from UAE

This includes allowing offensive operations from its bases and territories.

But it has been reported 3 nations have agreed to join in an offensive role. This is incredibly sensitive and likely not made public.

When I was in Kandahar I saw a UAE C17 that was completely unmarked, not a single thing tying it to the UAE. They’re very careful in supporting the west whilst keeping their own population onside.

I don’t disagree, that’s why I was clear to say allegedly. It is somewhat believable though, to Dubai, EK is one of its most valuable assets.

48 per hour is the standard rate - approx 1200 a day.

Its 80 daily flights using the special corridors.
That’s right. But Drron reported there was a cap on the total number of pax allowed, which was offered as an explanation for why there were only 200 pax on the EK a380.

Just trying to source the limit on lax numbers, rather than flights.

I would assume there isn't a limit, but it's quite common in repatriation flights for aircraft to go out below capacity, due to the complexities in getting the right people in the right place that are authorised to travel - people not turning up for the flight for whatever reason; Dubai is not quite at the stage of Kabul where you have masses of people storming taxiing aircraft; pax for the most part are comfortably accommodated in hotels waiting for the go-ahead to go to the airport.

When I last looked at FR24 a couple of hours ago there was quite a lot of activity around DXB. including a couple of Aeroflot flights. Almost looked like business as usual.

So what's actually happening and what we're being told don't really seem to gel.

Authorities are evacuating local residents in DOHA who live in the same suburb as the US embassy.
Old, and maybe sensationalist news. But the Iranians do seem to have taken rather a dislike to Qatar, based on what seems to be happening.

Based on interviews with passengers who diembarked from last nights EK flight in Sydney shown on sbs news tonight, a significant number were expat Aussie Dubai residents.

Aus gov has now also sent military transport aircraft in case needed.

Exactly! Does this look like a carefully selected few “repatriation” and “relocation” flights to you? Wow!
It'll only take one minor slip up (like an EK plane going down) and the whole shooting match will be off. I hope you can understand my colloquiums.

There’s been 60 departures (according to FR24) since midnight - we were told 80 a day.

What’s the conspiracy you’re trying to spread?

Normal is 1200 a day.

Landed yesterday on SQ317 from London to SG - the loads went from less than half prior to the ME kicking off, to full completely 2 days before flying.

The purser was saying that for that flight, was equal amounts of code-share partners pushing passengers and people who were grappling with 'being stuck' in London / Europe buying tickets to simply get back over this side of the world.

It was amusing watching the inflight map as we whizzed over the top of the conflict zone....

Azerbaijan airport and a nearby school have been hit by Iranian drones. How many countries now? 11?

And Qatar is under attack in the last hour.

Random aircraft everywhere filling up, including routes you may not think of like JQ SYD-ICN

Australian news interviewed an American man in SYD who arrived on the EK flight, he was trying to get home to Texas and that was his best option.

I think it's a case of get whatever you can get to get out, then work it out from there.

‘Fortunately’ it was the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, an enclave within Azerbaijan very close to the Iranian border.

If it was as Azerbaijan proper, the missiles would’ve flown right through a major air route north of Iran.

Apparently, the Iranians see Azerbaijan as a bit of an Israeli? or US? puppet.
