It’s a beautiful space - you can see how the artistic flair leaped out. One can't get enough of light and space...

Yes, MXN. Prices aren't that red hot.... A$135 for tasting, A$15 for entree and A$30 for main look pretty cheap these days.

A few meals coming up here in MC and NYC were absoutely eye watering..

Yep! Stupid me misplaced the decimal point .....hehehehe..

so ended up seeing $100aud , instead of $10aud....quite reasonable prices

It was really nice, very enjoyable meal, but as for #22 in the world? .... I reckon I’ve eaten at 50+ other places that were better.

Well hopefully you felt a bit more blown away by some of the other high end bookings of the trip.

A short walk from the Museum is the Mercado de Coyoacan ... this is a must visit!

Will try and finish this TR ... the pace has slowed as I’ve been traveling multiply times since we got back.

A short walk from the markets is Jardín Centenario (Coyoacán). This was the first capital of New Spain .... the original inhabitants disliked the Aztecs, so they were very welcoming of Hernan Cortes.

This suburb has the vibe - many restaurants, 16th architecture, and narrow streets makes for a great destination.

Next stop on the tour was the floating gardens of MC - Xochimilco. This is what MC looked like before the Aztecs starting reclaiming the land.

On first sight - this looked like a horrendous way to spend a couple of hours. However, once I was on the boat and understood the concept, it turned out to be an awesome fun activity. The boats operate 24 hours a day, and the locals flock to it for family celebrations, office parties, late night drinks, etc, etc

Once on the water you can purchase - alcohol, food, jewellery, private Mariachi bands, the job lot .... what a great concept!! Jam-packed fun!!

NYE, we’re not big on celebrating, so had not booked anything for dinner. I hit up the concierge late in the day who managed to get us a table at Sylveste prior to their NYE event. Only proviso - in by 6.30pm, out by 8pm - no worries.

We were the only diners, and I got the feeling they were doing a big favour for concierge/us .... we even got to listen in on their team talk - pity we don’t speak Spanish. The meal was lovely, and well worth coming here when in the area.
