Obvious..what these are
Moderator
Admin

Social Ambassador, Moderator, and Admin are specific roles filled by members to (genuinely) enhance your AFF experience. The other titles are related to the number of posts each member has posted on AFF, excluding Playground.

I believe you cannot tell who are paid members and who aren't.
p.s. I'm a paid member, can you tell any difference between me and a non-paid member (if you know any).

Edit - According to The Australian Frequent Flyer - Member Benefits, Paid members are allowed "signatures"... I don't have a signature so you can't actually tell that I'm a paid member :)
Or there are people who turn signatures off, so they don't see any even if someone does have one.

I could be mistaken but one giveaway is that paid members are able to have avatars whilst unpaid members have NO AVATAR in the box below their member status.

Sorry, I think you're mistaken as I'm an unpaid member with an avatar. The signature box is the tell tale I believe.

So how many posts are required to achieve the various tags?
This was decided by poll/survey 7 years ago:

http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/playground/aff-posting-levels-11901.html

For a numerical definition, see here:
It was so subtle, you never even noticed ;)

Earlier this afternoon, we acted on your (collective) recommendation and made some slight changes to user titles, based on post counts.

The new levels are:

1 - 9 posts New Member
10 - 99 posts Junior Member
100 - 999 posts Member
1,000 - 4,999 posts Established Member
5,000 - 9,999 posts Senior Member
1,0000+ posts Posting Enthusiast

(Compare to the old levels:
1 post Newbie
2 - 9 posts Junior Member
10 - 19 posts Member
20 - 99 posts Senior Member
100+ posts Posting Freak)

This is a far more sensible structure which better reflects the "demographics" of our community. Thanks for all your input and a special thanks to Straitman for the suggestion and managing the poll.

That's interesting. I had wondered about the basis for the member status, or posting levels.

... This is a far more sensible structure which better reflects the "demographics" of our community ...

I'm curious to know whether the known 'demographics' have remained fairly stable over time? Is there a current typical member profile available or is it wildly variable?

None that I am readily aware of, but It would seem the change in Jan 2007 was appropriate, otherwise most here would be "Posting Freaks"!

(e.g. All but one of the posters so far in this thread would have had that 'moniker'.)

I suspect the longer AFF is around, the more the member levels will need to be enhanced....

Chairmans Poster?
Concierge Key Contributor?

An interesting algorithm would be something that tracks those that read 1000´s of posts but make no or few posts themselves - they could be tagged as ¨ninjas¨ or similar. I suspect there are many. :)
