MEL vs SYD QFlounge

It was SYD where I was served a S&P squid that was rancid inside. Feeling rather queezy I sent it back.

That was in 2008 and I have not ordered one since.

Did you get some sort of compensation for that?

At a restaurant you'd get that item taken off your bill etc, but seeing as you weren't paying to begin with...

I echo most of RooFlyer's sentiments. The MEL lounge is very nice; it was the first F lounge I visited. Then I visited the SYD lounge with its massive curved space, divided sections and views of the runways and city. As you come up the escalators, you think - wow. This is absolutely stunning.

I don't care.

When leaving internationally from MEL, I'll use the excellent Qantas MEL F lounge.

When leaving internationally from SYD, I'll use the excellent Qantas SYD F lounge.

But please make up your own minds which lounge you use!

As others have mentioned the MEL lounge staff know your name. I have been greeted by name by staff arriving for their shift when they've seen me in the lounge.

The small size makes it feel more exclusive.

SYD is of course very nice and extremely professional, but the sheer size of the place makes it harder for the staff to get to know you.

The proactiveness of the spa staff is also very welcome in MEL.

Both are excellent lounges and it is always a pleasure to visit either one of them.

Sydney is more useful (for me) when there is checked luggage (i.e. Traveling with SWMBO).

i.e. Front up from a connecting MEL(/BNE/ADL/PER/etc) domestic flight at 11am/Noon with luggage already safely checked through for yon QF1 departing 4 or 5 hours later ... :p

I'm a Sydneysider, however I have to say Melbourne F lounge is my favourite. More intimate and I like the feel and ambiance of the space more.

I definitely prefer the 'exclusive' feel of the MEL lounge, "Where everybody knows your name". That being said, I wouldn't knock back a visit to the SYD lounge.
