Sorry if this has been mentioned somewhere already. I just want to quickly check how many points and charges are for a business ASA or first ASA from Melbourne to Singapore. It is a shame Qantas make it complicated than ever for xASA redemption. Thanks in advance!

Just do your normal search and select the "view in points" box?

Combining bookings from February and June of this year gives me an estimate of 50,000 points + around $315 from Adelaide to Singapore. That will be skewed if pricing changed in between the two bookings, though.

MEL-SIN JASA would be 60,000 points + a cash payment in the same ballpark, I'd imagine.

I recently booked CBR-MEL-SIN for 60,000 points plus $449.18 (including credit card fee)

Thanks for your reply! I just called Qantas. Surprisingly, the guy Kevin don't understand when I asked for a JASA seat. After I repeated, he ended the call with "sorry I don't understand". Anyway, after I burnt all the points, there is no reason for me to fly Qantas any more.

Have a look in the other thread as to what you need to ask for and when, essentially it's easier if your speak in their lingo.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks Markis10! I just called again, now another rep Carling can understand and is putting me on hold to work it out.

Hopefully you got the booking confirmation you were after... hopefully you recalled and spoke to someone who could help.

did you ask for a ASA or a JASA? Perhaps saying you wanted to book a any seat award in business class, and you would like it at the classic level of points and you will copay the fees and taxes.

A few threads on the removal of the asa's off the website are within here, have a look if you haven't already

Thanks Guys! You guys are really help. Finally, after around 40 minutes with several times putting on hold, the lady came up an option MEL-BNE-SIN which cost me 84000 points plus AUD480 as there is no direct flight available that date. Based on the figure, I estimate for MEL-SIN direct flight JASA which would cost 60000 points plus around 300. I did not take that offer as the MEL-BNE is 6am which is not quite good and not direct flight and cost more. Instead, I booked a classic award ticket online.

MEL-BNE-SIN which cost me 84000 points plus AUD480

That sounds like two separate JASAs pieced together (MEL-BNE @ 24,000 + BNE-SIN @ 60,000). A bit puzzling unless they were on different days...

Quick update, after I realized I can earn 360 status credit (with double status offer), I thought this is a good deal for me to retain Platinum for another year. I so changed my mind and booked my first ever JASA seat. Even though the MEL-BNE is quite early and has 2 hours layover, I thought it is worthwhile as I can get additional 120 status credit via BNE.

Sounds like a good deal, isn't it? Paying 84000 points + AUD480, I can earn 360 SCs and roughly 10K points.

Pretty average value, I would look at at BR special for Circa $500 in Y and nest a PE flight ex Singapore in there, the PE via SYD would net 280 alone for $1000.
