And blaming STA.. Mind you seriously stupid behavior for an agent to try and associate themselves with a mistake fare

I found the fares quite easily on a number of OTAs but decided not to book. Got other fish to fry, and with the current exchange rate the deal is good but not fantastic.

Wanna share where? Or PM me? I'm needing to book for 1st week November, but looking for the best deal I can find...

This is a cross post, but anyone booked on a QF 747 should check their booking to see if they can select row 43 - extra leg room for free rather than $180.

See here -
This is a bump or a note to everyone that bought the USD444 fares that Lurker has seen that the front row (43) with leg room and cut out is currently free for a WP (at least).

I checked our booking today, last time was late July (and I lost my WP) at the end of July and they were then $180 a seat to choose.
I can also select row 43 for no fee (they are not longer red seats in the Qantas seat selection key) - I am now SG and my partner is still WP.

Yes, I can select 43 ABC/HJK for free. We are currently booked in 46D-G, what is the advantage of 43 over 46?

Row 43 D-G is a bassinet row, so you could be moved for someone who has children, though you didnt ask about these seats.

Row 46 does not have extra legroom and your wall is a bathroom. So you would likely hear the flushing mechanism.
There is a review on page 8 or 9 in the other thread of row 43/44/46.

Both rows also have in arm IFE and tray tables.

I'll be checking it out late this year but if a group of 4 then 46D/E/F/G would be a good option ...

Any chance of being allowed to cancel for free if your flight has changed by say ~ 5 hours or so by QF?

From the Qantas Conditions of Carriage it seems like you come under bullet point 3, or even possibly 2 :)

13. Refunds

13.1 When a Refund is Available

You will be entitled to a refund if we:
  • are unable to carry you and you have a confirmed reservation
  • delay your flight to the extent that you have to cancel your travel
  • make a significant change to the scheduled flight time, which is not acceptable to you and we are unable to book you on an alternative flight which is acceptable to you
  • downgrade you from the class paid for
  • fail to stop at a Stopover or the destination specified on your Ticket
  • cause you to miss a connecting Qantas flight on which you have a confirmed reservation, or
  • cancel your flight

Or alternatively under 9.1 c

[h=3]9.1 Schedule Changes and Cancellations by us[/h]
(c) Significant Change
If, due to circumstances within our control, after you buy your Ticket we make a significant change to the scheduled departure time of your flight or the flight is cancelled, we will:

  • rebook you on the next available flight (or combination of flights) on our services to your booked destination at no additional cost to you
  • alternatively, at your option, refund the applicable fare

You must be in the same boat as we are.
Had a flight change from 9pm at night to 10am in the morning. sort of defeats the purpose of booking a night flight to get a days work in.

Thanks Serfty, looking forward to your update. I had selected row 46 as the arm rest between E&F can be lifted to allow Ms 3YO to stretch out.

You could argue that you have other plans, flights, that you cannot get out of and you are now inconvenienced by their changes.

I have one of these fares, booked through Expedia, and was able to make a date change for only the change fee of $200 -no additional fare collect!
Hope this information is useful if any of you hold one of these fares :)

I'm going on one of these trips on Tuesday!
