My wife and I were travelling this route with Qatar but QR cancelled it a week ago. I booked with China Eastern business class using Trip.com (first time, didn't realize dodgy reputation). One of us is QF Platinum, the other QF Gold. Do we have access to the Qantas International First Class lounge in MEL? I can't find a straight answer.

I've booked with Trip.com before and they were fine (although nothing went wrong with those flights). Even as a QF WP, if you are flying China Eastern (MU), you only get access to the QF Business Lounge. I'm also a QF WP and couldn't use the QF First Lounge when I flew with MU in their business class. Anyway, you should get the A350 and B787 all the way to FCO. Great seats and closing doors with the lushest pillows and duvets in the sky! You'll get pyjamas and nice slippers as well. Their amenity kits are cough (no lotions or lip balm). Oh, and always go for the Asian options with the meals.
Anyway, see my MU trip reviews on here...

Trip.com are excellent, not bad at all
