MEL F Check In

No - you'll need to check in at domestic. There's an international connections desk.

Could he not just checkin for the domestic sector and then checkin for the Intl leg once in Sydney Intl? but have his bags checked all the way through to DFW? similar to how it would work if an airline only allowed interlining of luggage but not issuing of BP's for another airline?

Why would you bother? I've not had a problem checking in at MEL for an int flight from syd or BNE. Makes life very easy to wander straight through to the F lounge!

It doesn't bother me as I am not WP, but if I was a new WP for the first time I'd like to use it just once to see what all the fuss is about.

I guess its the same reason why WP's line up in the premium security line or premium boarding line when its full and normal lines only have 1-2 people in it.

It's nice but if you aren't checking in bags it's not really worth it.. You'd be better off getting the BP in Melbourne so you can enjoy the F lounge longer!

Hi guys quick question on this topic.

I have a flight MEL-DFW via Sydney. As a WP am I still able to use the Qantas First Check In to get my SYD and DFW boarding passes even though it is a domestic flight to Sydney in first instance? I know I could do this at the domestic counter but this may be the only chance I get to use the much acclaimed First check in room

Thanks
J

You could go there (SYD F Check in) to get an express immigration outbound pass if you really wanted, that is if you haven't got it from the terminal transfer desk or at check-in in MEL.

.....or if you wanted an extra one. ;)

I don't particularly like the SYD F check in area. The MEL check in "suite" is very quiet and private.

Thanks for your help guys, much appreciated. I think i'll save the time and just go straight from SYD DOM to SYD INT with boarding passed received in MEL in hand.

The MEL First class check-in is open most of the day.

It opens around 3:30am for QF25 [, closes after QF93, reopens noon] and normally closes around 5:30pm (after QF133 closes) before re-opening 3-4 hours before QF29 is to depart.

I'm flying QF133 (5:40PM) on Xmas day and I was thinking I could have a nice Xmas lunch in the First lounge with lots of champagne. Can I check my bag around 1 PM? I'm always confused as to which airlines accept bags 3, 4 or 6 hours before the flight.

Last time I tried it F check-in opened about 3.5 hrs before our flight.

Thanks straitman! I just remember earlier this year checking in my bag with AY in HEL at 9 AM for a 11:30 PM flight (I did not stay inside the airport though and went sampling some Vodka...) I guess the flight is not "open" 13 hours in advance and they just throw the bag in a backroom until 3-4 hours before the flight?

A bit like (see the other thread) checking in at Central in HKG many hours before the flight.

Yep, MEL F checkin let me check in about 3.5 hours pre-flight on the proviso I didn't mind my bag 'just hanging about here for half an hour'.

Do the MEL QF93/QF9 flights open at T-4 like QF11/QF1 in SYD?

Do the MEL QF93/QF9 flights open at T-4 like QF11/QF1 in SYD?

I read on ABT that all A380 flights open at T-4 due to the increased number of pax compared to other international services... so that would include the A380 service to HKG, QF127

MEL F Check-in - opening times

Morning all,

Can anyone tell me what time the MEL F check-in opens?

Regards,

BD

3.5 hours to the minute has been my experience unless there has been a schedule change and other flights are also being checked in.
