Major delays at airports due to passport control system outage

Passengers at international airports around Australia are experiencing major delays on Monday morning due to technical problems with the passport control system.

A source said the outage was affecting software used by airlines to check passports when they checked passengers in.

Here's hoping no one here is affected and that it is rectified before I travel tomorrow.

No probs arriving SYD this morning.

If this is correct then it wouldn't affect inbound

Well no, unless they said it was ONLY affecting check in software.
I would imagine the check in software is simply accessing the software in question and there would be other points of access which could potentially be affected.
Such as immigration kiosks on arrival and departure.

From the Australian web site:

A Melbourne Airport spokeswoman says check-in for international flights was impacted on Monday morning by the outage of the Advanced Passenger Processing system - a globally-used, border-clearance process affecting many other airports. Additional Australian Border Force officers will be deployed at airports as required to minimise the impact to passengers.
The Department is aware of an external system outage with the Society International Telecommunications Aeronautiques (SITA) system, this will affect travellers entering and departing Australia,’’ a statement on the ABF website says.
As of about 11.00am AEST, it is understood the SITA system was working once more at Sydney Airport.

The article said inbound not affected even though this quote includes arrivals.
Auckland and Dublin delays as well.
youll be fine tomorrow Hvr.

A bit slow to respond to this but we were caught up with this flying from BNE-SYD-SFO. QF could not issue are boarding passes from SYD-SFO in BNE. But all good when we arrived in SYD even with a 50 minute transfer from T3 to T1 !
