Mods, not sure if this belongs here or in Travel News, K am putting it here because it's OneWorld so impacts on Qantas including 'earning and burning' QFF points.

Malaysian Airlines will finally become a full member of OneWorld in December, so Qantas frequent flyers can start earning points on MAS flights, and also if you really want to, use your points to book MAS. Might be handy as MAS has nice routes eg Sydney-KL-Amsterdam, then again with QF-EK on the horizon, probably better to use them on the same route with EK.

Anyway, AusBT has the story with MAS confirming "the turn of the year" timeframe, although I suppose 'turn of the year' that could actually mean 1/1/13?

Excellent news! Will be interesting to see how much co-operation there will be between QF/MH beyond the obligatory OW benefits.

Also howabout an AFF do in KL :)

I had better slip some bills onto my Westpac Platinum Amex so we have enough points to give MH a shot out of that points warehouse.

Top news. I look forward to trying the lounge in KUL if my RGN-YUL flights next year stick. My three hour connection should be just right.

Any excuse for an AFF do, Timba-Jet!

make it the F1 weekend in March 2013. i'll be there then!

on another site i've read 12/12/12 as a date celebrating 12 years of oneworld

Since Qantas fly to OneWorld hubs like Santiago, Dallas, London, Hong Kong and Tokyo; does anybody think we will ever see QF metal at KUL?

It probably wouldn't be too difficult assuming they can get the slots, to send one of their SIN flights to KUL eg. SYD-SIN-KUL or something along those lines.

Considering that OneWorld was founded on 1 February 1999 according to Wikipedia I'm not sure how 12 years works out, wouldn't the 12 year anniversary have happened last February instead of this December?

It'd be nice but if they can codeshare with MAS I don't see why they would bother. But didn't QF used to fly to KL until a few years back?

Early December sounds great.

Time to start planning those flights....

I might be mistaken.. is it the 12th airline in the alliance ? something about 12 anyway

Why do that when you can just lump everyone on to 3K in SIN?

It will be good to see MAS in OW but would have been better to have had the A380 coming to Melbourne and Sydney. Could it be that QF plan to use an A380 to KL then MAS take you onto LHR on their own A380 giving us all more options into ASIA and Europe?

Could work rather well and help QFi back to a healthy business

Am booked on MAS A380 to Sydney next June

You may want to check as they recently announced they were pulling them and putting them on the LHR run as morew profitable
