Hi, so many of you are so expert on FF programs you seem like you are speaking another language half the time. I have a very simple question which I hope isn't too prosaic for you. Now that Malaysian airlines has joined Oneworld, under what circumstances (if any) can QFF+Qantas Club members access benefits other than points (e.g., increased luggage allowance, access to lounges). Reason I ask is that we are very frequent travellers to Malaysia and sometimes we have to travel MAS anyway. Thank you in advance.

At this stage, there are no benefits for QP members flying MH.

I believe if you are Emerald Status or equivalent (eg QFF Platinum), you get the stated benefits.
[h=1]Emerald privileges[/h] As a frequent flyer member of one the oneworld® member airlines, you earn miles and points towards your tier status every time you travel on an eligible flight.
When your top tier status is equivalent to oneworld Emerald, you are entitled to the following oneworld benefits, no matter which oneworld airline or cabin class you are flying:

  • Priority First Class or Business Class check-in
  • Preferred boarding
  • Preferred seating (where offered)
  • Priority standby and waitlisting
  • Access to more than 550 airport lounges (with one guest) when travelling internationally, including premium First Class, Business Class and frequent flyer lounges, regardless of the class of service flown that day. For details about the oneworld lounge access policy, click here.
In addition to all of the above privileges, Emerald frequent flyers can now enjoy two new benefits:
[h=3]Extra baggage allowance[/h] As an Emerald frequent flyer you can check in one additional bag for free in addition to your ticketed baggage allowance when you fly on oneworld airlines. If your ticket mentions a weight allowance, you can check in an extra 20kgs (44lbs).
[h=3]Fast Track at select airports[/h] We know your time is precious and you would rather be in one of the 550 oneworld lounges rather than waiting in line at airport security. That is why, at select airports worldwide, our member airlines have arranged for oneworld Emerald frequent flyers to access the ‘Fast Track’ or ‘Priority Lanes' at security check points. See below for details and the list of airports where this privilege is available:

To put it in a simple context, you need to have One World status to get extra benefits on offer, Qantas Club is not a One World status.

The way I read the OP is that the member is a QP member only.

Thanks for the answers so far everyone. So how do I get "One World Status"? If I am flying on MAS as a Silver QFF + Q Club member I get nothing then, is that right?

Silver FF equals OW ruby, so preferred seating and J checkin.

Unless it is a Code Share Flight and you have a QF flight number on your ticket.. In which case if there is a Qantas Lounge you will gain access.

As to which I don't think there have been any released details of codeshares between the two carriers yet.

Thank you, this provided the quick answers I was after. Well the answers aren't what I was hoping for, but at least I know now. Thanks.

At least you get points and SCs, and now that MH are on board status runs out of KUL with MH could help you get Gold quickly and somewhat cheaply, their J specials are very good.
