Hi all
I am just re-engineering my trips for the next few months and am thinking of trying to book a marriott trip. I have just rediscovered my Marriott status is Silver (woo hoo?) but trawling through the website I am trying to work out what the cost of earning miles& points is. I can see that they will credit 1point/$1 for room rate and 2point/$1 for charges - but I cant find where the cost of lost marriott points is - I am I missing a simple link?
Cheers
Simon

Re: Marriott REards - Earn miles & Points

Apologies - just re-read this - it's miles OR points. I guess I just need to work out what is best for me - get the points or the miles.

Just looking at a quick conversion tool - if I spent US$2000* I would get 20,000 points. I could convert those to 5,000 AAdv points. If I went the earn miles option I would get 2000Adv points.

Seems like I should stick to points.

* Assumption being that $2000 is room only charges.

Re: Marriott REards - Earn miles & Points

Hi
I've just joined the Marriott program to earn Miles on hotel stays, the miles are then transferred to your nominated FF program. Qantas is part of the Marriott program and I've worked out for hotel accommodation in Marriotts overseas, you earn more points per hotel stay through the the marriott program. Through the QFF program you only earn 1000 points max per hotel stay, though Marriott you earn up to 3 points per hotel stay (depending on the class of marriott hotel)

If you chose Points option through the Marriott program, the points accumulated are only used towards accommodation at marriott hotels etc
This is what I understood it to be by going to the marriott website.

I just need to now know if the Marriott miles accumulated by staying at hotels are automatically transfered to your prefered frequent flyer programe or is it done on request.

Simon,

The Brisbane Marriott is the best Marriott in Australia. In Sydney I stay at the Sheraton on the Park.
Message is simple:Stay where it suits you most rather than sticking to a chain.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Re: Marriott REards - Earn miles & Points

The things is that for me I would rather pay less with a greater chance to get upgraded and spend more on food/drink whilst away. If in the process I can get better deals for me and mrssim whilst away that would be good.

Appreciate the advice though.
