Malaysian Airlines & OneWorld Alliance

Maybe a nice xmas present :)
More likely a New Year's present. ;)
You can put in your Enrich number on QF bookings now. I don't think they'll translate across this year though...which is all rather strange. I really hope MH officially joins OneWorld by January next year.

Now its been put back to 1st quarter of 2013 for Malaysian Airlines to join OW alliance any one know when tickets could possibly be booked that will get QFF points?.

Historically it has been flown date not booked date, so book for March 2013

I really hope a codeshare includes the flight from SIN-Subang airport and SIN/KUL-Kota Kinabalu.

At a guess, booking a MAS flight now would be no provision for QFF No. so once flight taken apply for points?.

Codeshare with whom? Haven't seen any codeshare announcements associated with MH joining OW and, according to wikipedia, they already have codeshares with a number of OW carriers:
Malaysia Airlines - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Just looking at the recently cited reports again and they indicate that MH could join OW any time in Q1 2013. End of the year (2012) is also the beginning of Q1 2013. Although I see the last of the Star reports suggests this month the date will become official. So I'm holding my next booking to end Sept/beginning Oct

Interesting article here about the implications for MH - and BA - of the QF/EK tie-up.
Malaysia Airlines, the likely winner of the Qantas/Emirates agreement

Certainly a lot of options with MH to the UK, even more if some sort of arangement with BA occurred - the article is merely speculation of course and ignores the existing codeshare with BMI. However I wouldn't be at all surprised if BA was talking to MH though...interesting times

Flights to and from Subang are done by their subsidiary Firefly. I don't think it is clear what relationship Firefly will have with OW. They are more or less an LCC so I would suspect they would be outside of Oneworld. There are MH codeshares on some Firefly flights. It will likely be a similar relationship as Jetstar with Qantas and OW.

Any flights to KK are done by MH proper. Not sure if there will be any new codeshares. But even if you fly on an MH flight number you will get the standard benefits that Oneworld status gives you.

Subang is preferable to KLIA because of the extra hour you save when driving into town from KLIA. You're right Firefly is not MH proper, but JetStar acts as a codeshare for some international partners of Qantas......so u never know.

For KUL-KK, the QF flight number would result in a better points outcome for me.

Easily overcome by the 28 min express train from KLIA to KL Sentral. As an added bonus, you can check in for MH flights and get rid of your luggage at KL Sentral on departure!

Actually, why did QF sponsor MH into Oneworld? What was the reason? Since QF is now joined with EK in a partnership...

But far better travel options from KUL than from SZB.

From KLIA you have RM35 for express train - which is faster and cheaper than the taxi from Subang. Or RM10 for 1hr bus ride. There's also screwy bus+train connections, but I've never used them! I always go train if I'm in a hurry, or bus if I'm cheap :)

Interesting Q...when MH becomes part of OW, you can fly Oz-Kul-Lhr and still earn QF points, and more importantly for me start my journey at the QF F lounge in Syd as a WP.

........but what if you are heading to Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam or Bukit Bintang. Train's not so good for that.

Yeah agree with you there with the Syd QF F lounge :) Not sure if I will ever be a WP on QF.... or even a OWE. I'm OWS now. Looks like I need to get a F ticket to experience it..

From KLIA, taxi to PJ, taxi to SA, and KLiA express / taxi from Sentral to BB :)

Can you not take a monorial from sentral to BB?

Only if you want to arrive at BB covered in sweat;) Currently, the monorail at Sentral stops about 500metres from KL Sentral where the KLIA express stops. You need to walk outside on a dusty road past The Nu Sentral shopping centre which is being built. Once this is finished (apparently Oct this year) you can walk through the shopping centre to the monorail. Note that the last monorail stops running just before midnight and is not the easiest to navigate if you have a lot of luggage.

Ah thanks for that. Never tried this before. Always cab it.
