Maintaining Velocity Platinum Status
Hello All, I am a couple of months and a few too many flights off maintaining long held Platinum status with Virgin Aust. An illness has kept me grounded but will be on the move again in the new year. I just had a chat with Velocity Platinum about a membership pause which they only do for maternity leave purposes. I was told that they had just introduced a policy where it you are close to maintaining, they will send you an offer to use points to get you over the line. I would need 110,000pts to make up my 800 credits. Has anyone else heard of this new policy? I can't find anything online about it. I have no reason to disbelieve what I have been told but am concerned that if I leave it until just before my anniversary date, it will be too late to do anything about. Thanks

I have not. I am in a similar situation, based overseas with little Virgin Aust connections. Rang up customer service and it was basically 'too bad'...

Yes there was some mention of this kind of an offer but again I have not personally experienced that.

Do share your experience if you happen to accept that offer and retain your WP.

Seems to be similar to what QF are now offering which from all reports on here is 80,000 points for SG and 120,000 for WP regardless of how close or far you are off the requalification number of SCs
