Renewed Accor Plus last week and thought I would book the Stay Plus night before it becomes "2 for 1" booking.
Did my research yesterday, narrowed it down to Sofitel Melbourne on Collins and Pullman on the Park for some appointments we have in the city in November or for April next year.

Finally had the discussion with Mr Flyfrequently this morning, yep, book it. Have done so for our wedding anniversary in April.

So figured I'd just pay for a night at Pullman or Sofitel....... only to find rates are through have the roof today - ACDC are playing at The G 🤦‍♀️ $1559!
Thanks for the heads-up. I will stay away from Melbourne in the first two weeks of November. Many years ago I booked a hotel room during a major golf tournament in Melbourne and was charge $450 for a suite as the only room available, when it would have been half that. (Yes, many years ago!)

Plus the Melbourne Cup Carnival goes for almost two weeks at the start of November, which chews up hire car availability, hotel rooms etc

Though, I have been able to book Pullman on the Park "Time To Enjoy" package on Oaks Day Eve for only 15 bucks more than I paid last week for our trip to Town.

It can also affect room upgrade. I don't know if it counts as a mistake but twice I booked an Intercontinental when major events were in the area. Both times no upgrades were available because of capacity booking.

This last trip I left behind a hairbrush, toothbrush, glasses case (a nice soft one that I like)

Sigh
And an entire bag full of stuff, too! ;)
I had to travel to Melbourne for a last minute trip, and during the process of booking my hotel I got a phone call. Thinking no more of it when I came back to my computer and completed the booking, the browser had refreshed and the booking was for that day instead of 2 days away. Anyway, I jump on the plane, get to Melbourne and into the hotel at 10.30 where they spend a huge amount of time tapping on the PC and I'm eventually handed a room key. I'm clearly looking a bit grumpy, but they explain that there was an issue with the booking and they have sorted it out.

It was only when I got back home and was sorting out the paperwork that I realised that I made the error and they fixed it with no issues what so ever, and didn't make me feel like an idiot. Needless to say, every trip to Melbourne since has had a stay there.
Name and (don't) shame - sounds like a good customer first hotel.

Realized recently Id let my tiny balance of Velocity points expire; I cant remember exactly when I last flew velocity but now Id earned some points form Delta before they went their separate ways and transferred some flybuys points before I started favouring Woolies.

Oh well was only really enough for a whY Syd-Mel rtn, no incentive to fly them at all now.
