Macquarie Visa Platinum - 40,000 points for $5000 spend - $99 1st Yr Fee

Just a quick question guys, I am wanting to apply for this card shortly... can someone confirm what exactly they mean by the account remains open? IE, can we collect the points and then cancel the card? do they automatically transfer to our QFF account and we can then cancel the card? or must the card remain open to use the points?

Once the points are in your QF account they are all yours.
So keep the card for 11 months (as you've paid the 1st yr annual fee) then if not wanted cancel it.
 
As with many others, my 2 lots of 20K have arrived.

No sign of the QP vouchers, not that I will use them, but they could be useful as gifts.

My wife got the vouchers but not the points. At one stage they claimed she was not eligible, then reversed that when we threatened to take it to FOS, but have charged $200 rather than $99 as yearly fee and points have despite their promises yet to arrive.
 
Is there a method to work out if I have spent $5000 on the card?
I've been making many transactions and can't figure out if I'm over the line.

My internet banking still doesn't work... If you are in the same boat, you can just telephone and ask what today's balance is. That is a perfectly normal query.

FWIW, I knew I had qualified well within the time, so it was just a waiting game.
 
I guess I would need to wait until the next statement period to make sure it all adds up but was hoping for some quicker method.
 
ah, sorry then. I have had a dream run with this card this time, having been refused before, so I forgot about the difficulties others have had. So, yes ring. OR just spend a vast amount so that you are certainly over the amount.

I have all my promised points and the web access works just fine.

There is the absence of my lounge passes though :(
 
Sorry. If telephoning isn't an option, perhaps ask someone to call on your behalf?

The other option is to gather all your receipts and add them up... (or wait for the statement)...



Their website indicates that you can visit one of their offices, but I have never done this, so don't know how useful that will be... FWIW, the addresses look like the corporate offices.

After a lot of initial pain sorting out the card, the MacQ gods blessed me with an extra set of 20k points which was quickly used for a J upgrade from SIN-SYD. :cool: If they keep it up, I might keep the card long term.
 
60+ days and counting (from my first transaction) here. No bonus points, no passes. Last time I called they said wait 60 days. Just called back and they gave a BS excuse ("Your QFF number was entered incorrectly" - really, then how come all the regular points posted in Dec and Jan? :rolleyes:). They've "escalated" it and it will take up to 10 days. We'll see...

This, plus the unbelievable hassles I went through to actually get the card (including them sending the first card to the wrong address!)...never again. Never again.
 
Hmmm

Feeling the shared pain here, but bonus points arrived as well as usual points for spend. Did triple confirm both entitlement to bonus points and that I had actually achieved spending thresholds. Lots of telephone calls. In the result, all the points came through within a few days of each other and about 10 -1 5 days short of the minimum sixty days wait.

it appears that THEY made an error and didn't enter my QFF number - even though they confirmed that the had - so the point posting was expedited.

Take home point: micro manage them, it might work!

Thanks. :) Tried the micro managing point all the way through, with many phone calls. Every time they confirmed that I was eligible, the QFF number had been recorded, and the bonus points were coming. After a month I called up and they told me the offer was "60 days after the transaction", so I waited until then. Of course I knew the points wouldn't magically appear after 60 days...nor my passes.

Can't wait to cancel this card (think I've said that before :)).
 
Like everyone else here, this card was a massive pain in the cough from start to finish. Only the plus side, they provide me not 20,0000 by 40,000(!) bonus points, so I can't really complain. I have since closed down the card. Cardserv are such a pain in the cough.
 
I got my first 20,000 points... no QF passes, and no second lot of 20k points. Hit the 5k spend required in the first month back in November so the 60 days is now way past. I'm not looking forward to having to chase this up :mad:

Don't know whether to call that optimistic or naive. I knew I had met the criteria on both mine and wife's card too as I made a single 5k transaction on each. But a waiting game, well if I'd taken that approach I'd still be waiting, seems to me most of the time you have to chase and usually multiple times. With my wife they left multiple messages, can you ring us. Sure I will spend 20 minutes hanging for someone to answer, or maybe I don't really want to talk to anyone and hear your asinine explanations, just fix it. Eventually they did but would suggest waiting in the hope they fix is excessively optimistic.
 
I am about to pick up the phone as it is 60 days today since I hit the 5k spend. No bonus points. And the initial 20k and other points only came after calling them.

Sound like blaming incorrect or not supplied QFF numbers is an SPP for their card services.

I wouldn't wait.
